Apoptosis & the Art of Letting Go…
I was talking with my daughters today about apoptosis, the body’s natural process of letting go. It’s how our cells know when it’s time to end their life cycle so new, healthy ones can grow. When this process doesn’t happen, it can lead to imbalance, even disease.
It struck me how deeply this mirrors our own lives. Nature teaches us again and again that release is part of renewal. When we cling to what’s no longer meant for us: old stories, patterns, relationships, beliefs…we create stagnation. But when we soften, when we surrender and allow things to complete their natural course, we make space for healing, for regeneration, for something new to be born.
This year especially has felt like a profound shedding. Layers of old identities, emotions, and outdated ways of being have been asking to fall away. It’s no coincidence that this year is called the “Year of the Snake”. Snakes are a symbol of transformation, wisdom, and renewal. The snake doesn’t resist its old skin; it surrenders to the process, trusting that what emerges will be stronger, more vibrant, more aligned. In the same way, our emotional and spiritual growth depends on our willingness to release what no longer serves, to allow ourselves to be reborn again and again.
Just as the body thrives through healthy cycles of death and rebirth, so too do our hearts and spirits. Supporting this process on a physical level can be as simple as working with what nature offers: plants, herbs, and essential oils that help maintain the body’s natural rhythms, including healthy apoptosis.
Through consistent, intentional use of plant medicine, we’re not just nurturing the body; we’re harmonizing with the wisdom of nature itself. Every drop, every breath, is a reminder: healing happens when we align with flow, not resistance.
As we wind down towards the end of 2025, I encourage you…Let go. Trust the cycle. Support your body and spirit in doing what they were designed to do…transform, renew, and thrive.
