Wrapping up the Wisconsin Administrator Course (DHS 83.15) through WALA has been such an incredible experience! Over the past few weeks our CEO, Lauren Davis, had the opportunity to meet so many inspiring individuals, both new leaders stepping into the industry and experienced professionals ready to take the next step in their journey as administrators.

It’s truly energizing to see the passion, dedication, and commitment to growth in this group. You are the future of leadership in our field, and it’s exciting to watch that unfold!

I’m reminded of a great Star Trek quote: “A leader’s job is to look into the unknown and make it known.” A perfect reflection of what each of you are stepping into as you continue to grow and lead.

Also, a very special thank you to this wonderful class for the beautiful flowers and thoughtful card at the end, it meant so much to me and was such a kind and unexpected gesture.

There’s something special about being part of someone’s leadership journey right at the beginning.

Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to teach for the Wisconsin Assisted Living Administrator Course about leadership, setting the tone, building trust, and leading with intention. This week, I get to reconnect with the same group of students and dive into two critical areas for every new leader in our field: Resident Rights and Financials.

These topics aren’t just regulatory checkboxes, they’re the foundation of ethical, sustainable, and person-centered care. Understanding how to protect dignity while also managing resources responsibly is what transforms a manager into a true leader.

I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing this class again tomorrow and Thursday. Watching new leaders grow in confidence, ask thoughtful questions, and begin shaping their leadership style is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.

Here’s to building leaders who lead with both heart and accountability. 💙
