At Christmas, we’re reminded that every child is a precious gift. 🤍

The most wonderful time of the year is coming!🎄

But also, the most overstimulating time for kiddos! With extra sugar, bright lights, loud gatherings and out of routine days, children’s sensory systems can get overwhelmed quickly!

Save & share these tips with a parent this holiday season! We’re all in this together!

✋🏼WAIT! Before dad (we see you silent heroes) takes those boxes to the curb, think about using them to build your babies motor skills this holiday season! 📦

Playin and and around a box helps babies:
✔️ Build core strength & balance
✔️ Practice weight shifting & cruising
✔️ Get calming proprioceptive input
✔️ Learn early language skills like “in, out, push, pull”

So happy shopping, and playing!

Always supervise + remove tape/staples for safety 💫

POV: It’s fun on the playground…But it’s also meaningful therapy supporting balance, coordination, and self-regulation. 🌱

3 other ways to activate your child’s vestibular system every day:

1) Crawling through tunnels or under furnitureHead position changes + directional shifts provide subtle vestibular work.

2) Bouncing on a trampoline or hop ball —up/down movement activates the vestibular system and helps with regulation.

3) Riding a scooter, bike, or balance bike — Constant movement, shifting weight, and steering give rich vestibular stimulation.

All of these everyday movements give your child powerful vestibular input that supports balance, coordination, attention, and emotional regulation. Activating this system is one of the BEST things you can do for their growing brain.

We had so much fun celebrating the season with our play class families! Wishing you and yours a merry holiday season 🎅🏼

POV: It’s holiday season and you dread the Thanksgiving feast because your child won’t touch anything on the table except the rolls. Here’s some tips to help relieve some stress!⬇️

🍽️ Offer at least one “safe food”—a familiar favorite your little one can rely on.

🎉 Use festive plates, utensils & décor to invite exploration: “How can we learn more about this special new food?”

🗣️ Set kind boundaries with family: “In our home we don’t have to clean our plates—we listen to our bodies. All types of food help us fuel our bodies.”

🎬 Focus on memorable traditions that aren’t food-centric: Think cozy pajama movie nights, crafting personalized place cards, building a mini nature scavenger hunt or game time together after the feast.

🍂 This season, let’s make new foods feel fun (not forced), encourage joyful movement and conversation, and build traditions that build connection—not just plates.

Lifelong Army brat here (and yes—happy retirement to our BP, FINALLY! 🎉). Fast-forward and I became an Army wife who needed a more flexible career… and also realized just how chronically underserved military families can be. Frequent moves + limited resources = kids who don’t always get the support they deserve.

So I felt pulled to create something that honored my roots and filled a real gap. 🌼
And that’s how Dandelion OT was born.

Fun fact: the dandelion is the official flower of the military child—resilient, adaptable, grows anywhere. And honestly? That symbolism fits so many kiddos with special needs and the families who love them.

Proud to serve our military community & others… and yes, we proudly offer a military discount, too. 🇺🇸💛

Movement doesn’t always mean misbehavior — it can be their way of regulating. 🧠✨

Many kids (especially boys) calm their bodies and brains by moving — not by sitting still. Next time there’s a meltdown, offer safe movement to help them reset: mini-trampoline jumps, animal walks, wall pushes, swinging, or a quick outside run.

Why this helps:

movement gives proprioceptive & vestibular input that helps the nervous system re-set — and it’s a skill they can learn instead of just being punished. If meltdowns are constant or feel unsafe, reach out to a pediatric OT for a tailored plan!
