Myth: Kids just need to push through pain.

When young athletes are passionate about their sport, they often try to ignore pain so they can keep playing. But pain is not a normal part of sports participation.

Pain is the body’s way of signaling that something isn’t right. Ignoring it can lead to overuse injuries, movement problems, and longer recovery times.

If your child is experiencing:
• Persistent soreness after practices or games
• Pain during activity
• Limping or changes in movement
• Decreased performance

…it may be time to have it evaluated.

A physical therapy evaluation for youth athletes can help identify the cause of pain, address movement issues, and prevent more serious injuries down the road.

Early care helps young athletes recover faster, move better, and stay active in the sports they love.

✨6 Simple Signs of Youth Sports Injury

👉In this guide you’ll learn the six key warning signs that indicate your athlete needs a PT evaluation, what each sign means, and exactly what to do if you spot them.

Even with the best preparation, injuries can still happen. That’s where knowing these warning signs becomes essential.

6 Warning Signs Your Young Athlete Needs Evaluation
➡️Headaches, Lightheadedness, or Dizziness
➡️Difficulty Sleeping
➡️Difficulty standing, sitting, stepping or moving around normally
➡️Limping or an appearance of pain when putting weight on and/or using a particular part of the body
➡️Sharp pain during physical activity
➡️Tingling, numbness or weakness in the limbs, fingers or toes

‼️One of the most important things parents should know is that direct access laws mean your young athlete can see a physical therapist without a physician referral.

On crutches? Let’s make sure you heal the RIGHT way!

The way you walk during recovery can either speed things up….or slow you down.

If you’re recovering from surgery, a sports injury, knee pain, ankle fracture, or foot injury, how you walk with crutches matters more than you think. Poor crutch fit and bad posture can cause shoulder pain, wrist strain, back discomfort, and even increase your fall risk.

Before you take another step, make sure you know:
✔️ How high your crutches should be
✔️ Where your hands should sit
✔️ How to safely go up and down stairs
✔️ How much weight you should put through your leg

We break it all down in our blog:

Save this for later — and share it with someone recovering from surgery or an injury.

If you’re unsure whether you’re walking correctly, our physical therapists can help you adjust your crutches, improve your gait, and speed up your recovery safely.

Visit one of our clinics and get expert guidance so you can heal with confidence.

✨Protecting Youth Athletes from Overuse, Over Training and Burnout

❓Did you know an article from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) revealed a striking statistic: 70% of 13-year-olds who once played organized sports have stopped participating. Among the top reasons? Injury and burnout.

👉Burnout often stems from overtraining and can lead to both physical and mental exhaustion.
When young athletes transition into a new sport or season, gradually increasing training load is critical.

✅Physical therapists are uniquely trained to help young athletes prevent overuse injuries, recover safely, and learn proper training techniques.
