Ahhhhh it’s February 1st!! We made it through the hellscape that is January- seriously that month was the longest year!

January was just rough - I don’t need to explain to y’all why, you’ve seen the pictures & videos. Things are genuinely f’d up right now - throw on top of that some seasonal depression, ice fog, freezing temps, peri-menopause & well you get it… listen I’m 95% of the time about finding the joy & whimsy, but that other 5% percent is full of rage & sadness & the need to scream & smash some s**t and I’m not gonna fake it for the gram..

However- I’m going into February with some hope, maybe it’s the sunshine, maybe it’s friends holding space for me when I’m going through it, maybe it’s a sense of community. Whatever it is I feel myself turning a corner

Here’s a little bit of Joy from my darkest month that will hopefully bring a smile to your face ♥️ These are the things that kept me going -

•Books- just looking at them & rearranging my shelves
•Baths- a long soak with bath salts & a book - detox for my body & my brain
•Walks- nothing gets me out of my head like moving my body outside
•My job- it is impossible to be sad with the cutest funniest kiddos
•Vision board/mood board - I want some travel this year
•My weird art on the walls at
•Pogo Kitty & I both got sick & then got better
•Protesting- I ended the month in community with family & friends protesting the atrocities taking place in this country

I put together this sweet little Baby shower gift basket yesterday- It includes:

• honey lotion tin
• belly balm
• baby bum cream
• nursing balm
• peri-massage oil
• peri-spray
• tiny tummy + tiny teether roller blends
• lavender sachet

While some items are discontinued, I’m still happily making: chapsticks, solid honey lotion bars (tins + push-ups), body balms, face oils, room sprays, bath salts, roller blends… etc etc.

Jumping on the 2016 trend-

I love looking back and being nostalgic…but also, full disclosure- I’m 47, peri-menopausal, and without photo prompts I truly have no idea what I did that year

What I do remember (thanks, camera roll)-

-A family trip to Kauai that was one of my fav trips ever! Hey fam ( .avery ) Can we do this again? Pretty please ♥️

- Nose piercings for Miranda’s 16th? birthday

- Brandi Carlile concert

- Lots of hikes, fresh air, and family time

Turns out 2016 was pretty sweet, even if my brain forgot it for a minute 🤣

I do however specifically remember blasting 24K & having dance parties so that’s the audio for this post- your welcome!

First week of January✨

• Pogo (my cat)stealing my prime reading spot

• Reading Overdue by — library book that happens to be overdue 🤣

• Cleaning & rearranging my bookshelves- realizing my physical TBR is actually bananas

• New work schedule & new nanny poppins babies 😍

• Finished The Last Page by - also realizing my favorite books happen at bookstores & libraries…

• Big nanny kids officially off to preschool 😭 How?!! They were just babies

• Lunch & Coffee & bookstore wandering with my girls

• Meeting Kristen Jokinen ( )and getting a personalized copy of Joyride - so stoked to read about her adventures riding from Alaska to Argentina

January & 2026 is already feeling heavy & crazy - I’m fully embracing joy as an act of resistance ♥️
