Karma is the yoga of action. This path asks us to perform selfless acts of service (Seva) that benefit others, not just ourselves. To celebrate daily tasks as sacred and meditative, and to focus on the process or journey rather than the final goal. More importantly, INACTION is still a form of action. What we do or do not do does matter. Karma yoga asks us to be mindful, intentional and unattached to any particular result and to move and act from a place of universal love. It asks us to participate fully in our own life and to find ways our lives and actions can benefit the wellbeing of everyone as much and as often as possible 🙏

In Sanskrit, Kula means Community. At Tula, we aim to offer much more than just classes. Our teachers and students form bonds that travel beyond the mat. We strive to create an inclusive and accepting space and believe that everyBODY, every human, is welcome here. It’s not about being “good” or “fit”, it is simply about showing up. Come as you are and we will be with you through the good, the bad and the hard times. Check out the new “Free Community Gatherings” page on our website for all upcoming community meet ups. We are proud of our Tula Kula and hope you join us either in a class, a gathering, or both 🙏

The second of the Yamas is SATYA. Satya is truthfulness: speaking the truth and living in alignment with your highest self. Satya emphasizes the importance of truthfulness in our thoughts, words and actions and asks us to reflect on when and how we can grow and evolve to live in a more conscious and compassionate way.

To live in truth we must be (truly) honest with ourselves and others and embody a sense of integrity and authenticity in every aspect of our being. It is important to note that it is BENEVOLENT truth, meaning it is living within a truth that is kind and has good intentions. A few simple ways to integrate Satya into your life:

🌟 Honor your body, your mind and your soul (and others)
🌟 Communicate honestly and with compassion.
🌟 Live authentically—align your beliefs with your actions.

Satya is very powerful and when we commit to it, it can cause a ripple effect of benevolent truth and compassionate authenticity throughout our world. We hope this inspires you to find and live your truth, and that your truth inspires others to do the same 🙏

While Tula is not “just” a yoga studio, the mission and intention of our space is deeply rooted in and inspired by the principles of yoga. There are 8 limbs of yoga. The first limb is The Yamas, which essentially serve as ethical guidelines for interacting with the world and ourselves. Today we will share the first of the 5 Yamas: AHIMSA. Ahimsa is the practice of non violence, or non harming. This applies to thoughts, words and actions toward others and ourselves. Our space embodies this concept within our own walls and beyond. Tula’s vision is to foster a community of humans who want to lift each other up, spread love and kindness and truly show up for each other. If this resonates with you we hope this inspires you to take it in to your heart and apply it to your own life. We will continue to share more principles of the yoga practice that have contributed to the foundation of our space 💜 🙏
