✨ Let’s Talk Candida & Breastfeeding ✨
Candida (often referred to as yeast) is an overgrowth of a naturally occurring organism that can affect breastfeeding mothers, especially the ni***es and breast tissue. When it shows up during lactation, it can cause persistent and often surprising pain that doesn’t always improve with latch adjustments alone.
Common symptoms for mom include:
• Itchy skin, particularly around the areolas
• Red or rashy skin on the areolas and ni***es
• Ashy or blanched appearance of the areolas and ni***es
• Sharp pain during feeds
• Electric or shooting pain during feeds
• Pain that radiates from the ni**le into the breast
• Pain that catches you off guard long after a feed has ended
As someone working in the more natural space of lactation support, I’ve seen great success when Candida is caught and treated early using supportive natural products and a targeted probiotic routine.
Of course, there are some heavy hitters in the allopathic world—and they absolutely have their place—but they’re often only necessary if a dyad doesn’t respond to more natural interventions first.
🤍 If these symptoms feel familiar, you don’t have to push through the pain alone.
