Southside Physical Therapy

Southside Physical Therapy Southside Physical Therapy is here to help you get back to work, play, and everyday life after injury or illness.

For over 20 years, we have been proudly serving the people of Bend and surrounding Central Oregon. Our team at Southside Physical Therapy provides one-to-one manual therapy for treating the whole person rather than simply the injured area. Our physical therapists work to identify and treat the root cause of the problem to find long-term solutions rather than only treating the side effects for short-term relief.

Did you know your best recovery tool is free, and you're already doing it?

Breathwork can reduce stress, lower pain perception, and improve focus. The best part? You can do it at your desk, in your car, on a trail, in bed - anywhere!

Try this 4-7-8 breath exercise to stimulate the vagus nerve and trigger the "rest and digest" response, which calms your parasympathetic nervous system.
👃 Inhale for 4 counts
✋ Hold for 7 counts
💨 Exhale slowly for 8 counts

Repeat 3–4 times and notice the difference!

Did you know manatees control their buoyancy using their core?

Unlike fish, manatees don't have a swim bladder. Instead, they regulate their depth by contracting muscles around their elongated digestive tract - essentially using their core to float or sink.

Turns out, core strength isn't just for humans! A strong, stable core is the foundation of nearly everything we do at Southside PT; from recovering after surgery to relieving chronic back pain to moving better in everyday life.

Ready to strengthen your core? Book an appointment today @ (541) 388-2681.

Balance is something we tend to take for granted until it's compromised. Though it relies heavily on muscular strength, strong balance also requires coordination between vision, the inner ear, and proprioception to control your center of mass. Make a habit of standing up and down 3-5 times each time you stand from a chair to help strengthen the systems involved in stability and balance.

Fascinating Nature Fact: Pregnant elephants in Kenya have been observed walking miles out of their normal range to eat the leaves of a particular tree, one that humans traditionally use to induce labor. Researchers believe the elephants are intentionally self-medicating to help stimulate delivery.

Grace Yarnal doesn't have any plants to help move labor along, but she specializes in pelvic floor health and has the tools, exercises, and expertise to support expectant mothers through every stage of pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Schedule with Grace @ (541) 388-2681!

Balance is important for all ages (and all species - just ask Topper!). Here are 3 simple ways to work on your balance at home:
1. Stand on one foot while brushing your teeth. Alternate every 30 seconds.
2. Walk heel-to-toe down the hallway or when you go get a snack in the kitchen.
3. Tandem standing (one foot in front of the other) when you're cooking or watching TV.
