This workshop bridges the gap in traditional Pilates training and Neuro rehab adaptations designed to help physical therapists and other rehab clinicians use Pilates equipment with greater clarity, confidence, and clinical intent.

In this series, you’ll learn how to leverage key elements of Pilates equipment—such as spring tension, line of pull, suspension, and dynamic support—to address real movement challenges in neurological populations.

Each week, we’ll progress through the equipment (Tower, Reformer, Trapeze) in the same order it’s introduced in my clinical practice, covering:
🔹Equipment features that support kinesthetic learning and motor control
🔹Tried-and-true Pilates exercises adapted for both non-ambulatory and ambulatory neuro populations
🔹Practical modifications and progressions based on presentation and goals
🔹Effective use of equipment settings to influence load, support, and motor learning
🔹Safety considerations, common errors, and strategies for guarding and spotting

👉Don't use/have access to a Reformer or Tower? The CONCEPTS build and apply in each piece of equipment - learn how they stack, and how to 'hack' a pilates dupe if you don't have the exact machine.

Modules:
1️⃣ May 5 - Pilates Foundations: How to Think with the Equipment
2️⃣ May 15 - Tower: Upper extremity & Postural Control
3️⃣ May 19 - Reformer, part 1: Dynamic Postural Control & Stability
4️⃣ May 26 - Trapeze: using suspension to make positions accessible
5️⃣ May 29 - Reformer, part 2: Lower extremity integration

👉 Officially launching into "Pilates content season" here on this account - gearing up your 👀 and 🧠 to better learn from and absorb the summer training intensive highlights I'll be sharing very soon!

I always get good feedback from sharing these highlights ❤️ you tell me that you enjoy seeing the application of pilates for SCI in real time, and the creativity that flows from the the foundational work.

👉 So to better understand what you're looking at - the why, how it evolved from the foundations, and the interplay between the equipment and the body...

I'll be sharing more Pilates content to bring you up to speed! 🙌

TLDR: pilates-based program improved gait for L1-4 SCI through focus on scapular dynamics and core stability.

👀
Over the first several years of my career in spinal cord recovery, I facilitated hundreds of hours of gait training sessions with a wide variety of clients - and most clients were NOT improving their gait, even with 3-4x per week of gait training.

This method of ‘walking more to improve walking’ overlooks critical aspects of gait that are lost after SCI:
Spine rotation
Hip rotation
Reciprocal patterning
Scapular mechanics

So when I was invited to collaborate on a publication sharing the effect of Pilates programming on gait, I was eager to put my approach to gait training (ie. doing a bunch of other things that support gait) to the test in a 6-week case study.

This month's blog shares my field notes from this study, as well as the thought process behind my exercise selections for this short and efficient program.

You can find both the blog and the publication through the link in bio.

✨ZN STUDIO GLOW UP✨

If you didn't already know, the ZN Studio was in a 200 sq ft detached building located on my residential property.

After 3 years, I was feeling the itch to move into a bigger space that offered more room for all my equipment + ample mat space that could stay mat space.

And with the Gym already hosted in our garage, it only made sense to do some re-arranging and create a combined Pilates studio/Gym space that gives us access to traditional strength equipment and pilates conditioning all in one space.

A few things we did to cozy it up:
✨ Real ceiling with dimmable and diffused canned lighting
✨ Fresh coat of paint in a new vibe
✨ LVP flooring that makes it feel like a home
✨ Wall of mirrors so you can check yourself out 😉
✨ Insulation and weather stripping for those chillier mornings

I love all the natural light (it's a non-negotiable for me in spaces I spend a lot of time in!) and the al-fresco feel when the door is rolled up, all while still feeling like I'm in a finished space.

We've been using it all week and so excited to share the space with friends and clients this spring and summer!

More details of the equipment and tools to come.
