In this photo we are looking at frozen saliva that has taken on the information of the last sentence I spoke. I had been talking to a friend about the number eight and was in the process of testing saliva’s ability to store information through transference. I said, “Eight eight, eight”, and spat into a dish, freezing the saliva directly. I’ve used other words like love and tree and seen hearts and trees which I’ll share at some point.

You can see a clear 8 stamped into the large bubble in the picture here. If you consider that your saliva is holding the resonance of your words, and that it is the first fluid water comes into contact with when you drink it, it might make you consider saying a word of gratitude or welcome before eating or drinking. I always say, “You are the welcoming committee.You can drink the most pristine spring water in the world expecting it to heal you, but unless you are welcoming it in, it’s like ignoring an ancestor and all it’s ancestral wisdom.”

It’s time to say goodbye to your fear of tinctures. 👋

Many people see tinctures as “next level” herbal preparations, but we’re here to tell you that they’re NOT that intimidating, and there are many great reasons for why tinctures deserve a spot in every herbalist’s toolkit.

FOR STARTERS… Alcohol—and to a lesser extent vinegar and glycerin—extract a wider range of constituents from herbs than the water used in water-based preparations, like infusions. 🍵

This means that certain herbal constituents that contribute to a plant’s benefits, such as alkaloids, resins, and volatile oils, are best extracted in tinctures, depending on the type of liquid menstruum that you use for your base. (Amazing!) 🌿

SECONDLY… Tinctures are more concentrated than teas, syrups, cordials, and many other types of herbal preparations. So, for instance, instead of drinking multiple cups of chamomile tea, you can take just a few dropperfuls of chamomile tincture. For this reason, tinctures are a great fit for those who live a fast-paced lifestyle or want to take herbs right before bed. 🌸
