An client in their eighties had been struggling with a feeling of tipping over forward for weeks before having a major fall. The fall caused a lot of pain in the right shoulder. We used NKT and some kinesiology tape to treat the shoulder- it was feeling dramatically better after this.
I still felt concerned about the reason for the fall. With a little detective work we discovered that one Psoas was overworking and inhibiting the other, and a quadriceps muscle was inhibiting a gluteus maximus muscle. After treating all of this the client felt much better. The tipping over feeling was gone and a hammer toe that routinely hurts quit hurting. She walks, stands, and moves differently now. The risk of a future fall has been reduced and her ability to enjoy moving in her body has been increased. 🥳

A client came to me with medial and lateral foot/ankle pain. This client had been given a diagnosis of tendonosis of the right peroneal tendon and was injected at the site. (outside of the ankle). The injections helped some but the ankle still behaved oddly.Tendonosis occurs when a tendon has constant or repetitive strain placed upon it. Using NKT we discovered that the right peroneal muscle had poor function and was under active. Strain anybody? The undeavtive peroneal was being caused by the left peroneal muscle being overactive. After releasing the left peroneal and activating the right, the foot felt better, the muscle tested strong, and walking felt much easier. Finding and treating the patterns responsible for altered muscular tension may be very useful when recovering from tendonosis.

A client presented with difficulty drawing a complete breath while indicating that the restriction felt high in her chest.
Using NKT we found her diaphragm was overworking for her re**us abdominus and both pectoralis minor muscles overworking for the rhomboids. After releasing the diaphragm and both pec minors we activated the abs and rhomboids. Deep breathing is now possible and the restriction seems to be gone.

This was a fun session.

This client had persistent hip pain on the right side. I found that her L Internal Abdominal Oblique was overworking for her R External Oblique. After releasing the IAO and activating the EAO her pain was almost gone but she still had a “pinch” in the back of her hip on heel strike. We found Her left Iliolumbar Ligament overworking for the right Iliolumbar ligament and inhibiting the Left Piriformis. After addressing the ligaments the piriformis was strong and the pain was gone!

Fitness isn’t complicated.

At Elemental Strength we use High Intensity Training methods that are tried and true.
It isn’t flashy, at all. It is elemental, basic.
When training protocols are uncomplicated safety is easy to maintain. Clients who are uninjured by the training they participate in are more likely to make fitness a permanent part of their lives, to maintain a positive association between exercising and feeling good, and as a result, more likely to realize their goals. 💪🏽🧠💪🏽

Simple Strength

Collectively we have been strength trainers for 15 years, Dave for 10 and Janaya for 5 years. In addition to being a trainer, Dave is also a licensed massage therapist, specializing in an advanced modality called NeruoKinetic Therapy. Janaya has also collected her fair share of additional trainings: 200 hour yoga teacher training, Y12SR Leader, Wellness coaching training, Precision Nutrition Level 1 coach, and Reiki 1 certification. We are called to offer a multidimensional approach to wellness, combining high intensity strength training on MedX equipment, bodywork, wellness coaching, and yoga.

We are not your average personal trainers. We value authenticity, truth, growth, and sustainability... we stand for AUTHENTIC FITNESS.

We have been partnered since 2012 and married since 2015. We have always been a terrific team-- on the river, the trail, in the studio, and in life. We disagree on a lot! And often hold vastly different perspectives. But this is part of the magic that makes us, us. We bring it all. Dave is logical, rational, philosophical, and intuitive. He’s focused and intense. Janaya is allied with emotions and feelings; she is spontaneous, fluid, creative and expansive. Together we are magical and masterful; strong and spirited; grounded and generative. Most importantly, we bring all our positive attributes to serve our community, to promote strength and wellbeing in body, mind, and spirit.

We are delighted to share with you, Elemental Strength.
