Do you have a curious kid who’s interested in how the human body works or what it’s like to be a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional?

The Minnesota Medical Association is hosting Rural Youth Medical Career Discovery Day at the University of Minnesota Medical School CentraCare Regional Campus St. Cloud on Saturday, April 18. This free, hands-on event is designed for rural youth ages 9 and up and offers a fun, engaging way to explore careers in healthcare.

Participants will try interactive medical activities, meet healthcare professionals and students, and learn about the many pathways into healthcare careers. The event also includes a lunch and career exploration session for all ages, giving families a chance to learn more together.

There are two sessions available: ages 9–13 from 8 a.m. to noon, and ages 14+ from 12:45 to 3:45 p.m., with a shared lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are provided at no cost.

This is a great opportunity for families to explore healthcare careers and discover what’s possible close to home.

We are proud to be one of the locations that hosted a student from the University of Minnesota Medical School CentraCare Regional Campus in St. Cloud last week! And we look forward to hosting more students in the future!

It’s always energizing to see future physicians step into our clinic, ask great questions, and get a real look at how we care for our community. We’re grateful for the chance to play a small role in their journey.

From student to caregiver.

For Lilly S., becoming a radiologic technologist at CentraCare – Benson is more than a job. It’s a way to give back to the community that raised her. After growing up in Benson and completing her schooling at the CentraCare - Rice Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Willmar, Lilly returned home to begin her career helping patients through compassionate imaging care.

Her story is a great reminder of how local talent can grow into meaningful careers that strengthen rural health care.

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day — a great time to add some nutrient-rich green foods to your family meal! ☘️

Green foods like spinach, broccoli, peas, avocado and green beans are packed with vitamins, fiber and antioxidants that help support overall health. Edamame is a great source of protein that is also high in fiber.

Try adding a handful of spinach to a smoothie, roasting broccoli as a side dish, tossing peas into pasta or salads, or add edamame to salads or stir fry. Small additions can make a big difference when it comes to getting more nutrients into your day.

How will you add something green to your plate tomorrow? 🥦

Many people don't realize how closely mental and physical health are connected.

Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner Meagan Hoflock shares why conversations with your primary care clinician about mental health are an important part of whole person care.

Mental health can influence sleep, stress, energy and even how we manage other health conditions. And those needs can change throughout different stages of life.

You don't have to be in crisis to start the conversation. Your primary care clinician can help connect the dots and support your overall wellbeing.
