In Memory Of

Larry Gene Hyde, 86, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his residence.

Larry was born on April 7, 1939, in Jefferson County, Illinois, to the late Harold Reynolds Hyde and Helen Schultz Hyde. He graduated from Mt. Vernon (IL) Township High School in 1957. He attended Mt. Vernon Community College and Southeast Missouri State College. He started his sales career with Tupperware, eventually rising to regional sales vice president with Tri-Chem paints and Creative Circle. He launched a second career with his own company, CopyTech, as “Mr. Toner,” selling copiers and toner to school systems in western Kentucky and southern Illinois.

Larry was a kind, funny, and generous man. He was a gentle man and wasn't ever one to yell or get mad at anyone. He was a people person and had friends and family whom he would call or visit regularly. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of First Christian Church in Benton, Kentucky. He enjoyed spending time with his friends in the Men’s Fellowship Group. He loved to fish, and thanks to his fishing buddy Paul, he survived a fall into Kentucky Lake several years ago. He loved traveling around the United States with his family during his working years. He later enjoyed traveling with his son-in-law’s family as well on trips to Canada, Bermuda, Colorado, and Disney World. He and Elaine also traveled with their son Andy to Hong Kong and Buenos Aires. Larry’s childhood in farming translated into the knowledge and skill needed for cultivating a flourishing container garden on his deck each year.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elaine Dare Hyde; daughter Cindy (Jon) Louthian of Clarksburg, MD; son, Andy Hyde of Nashville, TN; his two grandchildren, Amanda Louthian and Owen Louthian of Clarksburg, MD; and several maternal cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen Schultz Hyde, his paternal uncle Leslie Hyde, and his maternal aunts and uncles.

Since Larry was always planning ahead as to what the next meal would be, you may send donations to Marshall County Caring (Needline), 307 E Main Street, Benton, KY 42025, MCCaringNeedline.org, or as a memorial to his faith, to First Christian Church, 2515 Main Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025.

Per his wishes, no funeral services will be held.

Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr is handling the arrangements.

In Memory Of

Jackie Ray Bragg, 87, of Marshall County, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray.

Jackie was born on November 28, 1938, in Benton, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth Bragg and Inez Phillips Bragg. He graduated from North Marshall High School in 1958 and, a few years later, enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a heavy equipment mechanic in Germany for two years. After returning from the Army, Jack spent the rest of his career working in construction. His career began when he worked to help build the Barkley Dam, after which he left to continue his construction career in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Alaska. During his time in Alaska, he helped to build the Trans-Alaska Pipeline before returning home to Marshall County and working for the Marshall County Road Department, where he worked until his retirement.

As a man of faith, Jackie was a long-time member of Oak Valley Church of Christ. He had a love for antiques and vintage items. He spent years combing through western Kentucky searching for valuables at yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. He enjoyed bringing the items home to clean and restore, so he could turn around and resell them at local auctions and antique booths. With his friendly personality, he never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He never liked to sit still and was always looking for someone to start up a conversation with. He combined those characteristics with his desire to battle his family’s long history of heart disease and became an avid walker. Not a day went by that he wasn’t out walking, and on some days he would go for multiple walks. For years, he spent countless hours at Mega Gym in Draffenville or outside at a local track exercising and socializing with others. Jackie enjoyed spending the last few years of his life living at the Stilley House in Benton where he made many new friends during his time there.

He is survived by his cousins, Shirley Bragg Brazelton of Benton, Terry Bragg (Janice), Teresa Bragg Rice (Tim) of Benton, Dorthy Cox of Mayfield; and Dylan Bragg of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Janice Wilson; and his parents, Kenneth Bragg and Inez Phillips Bragg.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Everett Cemetery Fund, ℅ Shirley Brazelton, 1065 Scale Road, Benton, KY 42025.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann with Joe Angle and Gary Bloomingburg officiating. Burial will follow at Everett Gray Cemetery.
