The Yoga of Spiritual Devotion: An 8-Week Journey into Bhakti Yoga with Sharada Devi & Kanhaiya Das
Course Description
Bhakti Yoga ā the yoga of love and surrender ā invites us to open the heart as a gateway to divine realization. In this 8-week experiential study, weāll journey through the core teachings of āThe Yoga of Spiritual Devotion: A Modern Translation of the Narada Bhakti Sutrasā by Prem Prakash, āBhakti Yogaā by Swami Vivekananda, and Chapter 12 of the Bhagavad Gita, the classic discourse on the path of devotion.
Each two-hour session blends:
Sacred Chanting & Kirtan taught and led by Kanhaiya Das to awaken the heartās natural devotion.
Guided Discussion with Sharada Devi drawing from the Bhakti Sutras, Swami Vivekananda, and the Gita.
Contemplation & Journaling to integrate the teachings into daily life.
Satsang (community sharing) to nurture connection and shared inspiration.
Together weāll explore the living essence of Bhakti: love as a spiritual discipline, surrender as liberation, and service as worship.

Week 1 ā Opening the Heart: What is Bhakti? An introduction to the path of devotion
Week 2 ā Naradaās Teachings: The nature of divine love and spiritual longing
Week 3 ā The Obstacles to Love: Ego, attachment, and purifying intention
Week 4 ā Practices of Devotion: Chanting, remembrance, ritual, and surrender
Week 5 ā The Bhagavad Gita on Bhakti: Krishnaās teaching on loving devotion (Chapter 12)
Week 6 ā The Wisdom of Vivekananda: The union of knowledge and love
Week 7 ā Grace & the Guru: The power of humility and receptivity

This monthly session is offered by freewill cash donation to support our service project of creating and distributing street kits of basic necessities to folks who are unhoused.
No experience is necessary - all that is needed is a willingness to open your heart.
Join us afterwards for a vegan potluck at 12:30pm.
