🚒🚑 Commitment to Life-Saving Skills 🚒🚑

Last evening, 6 of our dedicated members successfully completed their BLS renewal training, reaffirming their commitment to providing high-quality Basic Life Support to our community.

These skills are more than just a requirement—they are critical tools that help us make a difference when seconds matter most.

From cardiac emergencies to everyday calls, staying sharp and up to date ensures we are always ready to serve when our community needs us most.

We’re proud of our members for continuing to invest in their training, their teammates, and the lives of those we protect.

👏 Please join us in congratulating them on their continued dedication!

The spring burn ban is in effect from Feb. 15th to April 30th. The after 4 p.m. burn law relates to open burning that is within 300 foot of dry flammable material that can spread a fire. This ban applies to burning yard waste, branches, leaves, grasses, Recreational campfires are permitted if they meet the following criteria: Spring burning laws, only firewood is used, the firepit or campfire is less than 3 foot in diameter, and it is at least 25 feet away from anything flammable (buildings, woodlands, etc).
As with all outdoor fires, please make sure that they are never left unattended, and that you have a way readily available to extinguish the campfire when you are done or if the wind conditions change.

❄️ Due to the upcoming expected snow, here’s a few safety tips brought to you by the Bergton Volunteer Fire Company 🚒
Snow days are fun.
Fires, carbon monoxide calls, and icy wrecks? Hard pass.
Let’s keep everyone warm, safe, and on their feet:
⚡ Generators
• Outside ONLY — not the house, garage, porch, or “just for a minute”
• Carbon monoxide is invisible, odorless, and absolutely unforgiving
🔥 Space Heaters
• Give them 3 feet of space — space heaters do NOT care about your curtains
• Plug directly into the wall (power strips = bad ideas)
• Turn off when sleeping or leaving the room
🕯️ Candles
• Cozy vibes = yes
• Unattended candles = nope
• Blow them out before bed or leaving the room
🚗 Road Safety (Ice Is Sneaky)
• Slow down — ice doesn’t care how good your tires are
• Increase following distance (sliding is not a skill)
• Stay home if you can
• Give plows and emergency vehicles plenty of room
🚨 Smoke & CO Detectors
• If it chirps, it’s not complaining — it needs a battery
• Working alarms save lives and property
👨‍🚒 Final Thought:
If the power goes out, grab a flashlight — not a candle.
We’d much rather wave at you from the parade line than your driveway at 2 a.m. 😅
Stay warm. Stay safe.

Tonight we honor a truly great man in Bergton. Someone who understood the true meaning of community and lived it every day - always showing up, always helping, always being a neighbor.
Woody played a huge role in helping our fire company get the annual car show started, and he was so genuinely excited and proud that we had made it happen. His encouragement, guidance, and love for the event helped turn it into something special for our department and our town.
Bergton will feel much different without you, Woody. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our fire company and for this community you loved so much. Ride your Chevy with the angels. 😇
Please keep Woody’s family in your prayers tonight. 💙

Merry Christmas everyone
