❄️ Due to the upcoming expected snow, here’s a few safety tips brought to you by the Bergton Volunteer Fire Company 🚒
Snow days are fun.
Fires, carbon monoxide calls, and icy wrecks? Hard pass.
Let’s keep everyone warm, safe, and on their feet:
⚡ Generators
• Outside ONLY — not the house, garage, porch, or “just for a minute”
• Carbon monoxide is invisible, odorless, and absolutely unforgiving
🔥 Space Heaters
• Give them 3 feet of space — space heaters do NOT care about your curtains
• Plug directly into the wall (power strips = bad ideas)
• Turn off when sleeping or leaving the room
🕯️ Candles
• Cozy vibes = yes
• Unattended candles = nope
• Blow them out before bed or leaving the room
🚗 Road Safety (Ice Is Sneaky)
• Slow down — ice doesn’t care how good your tires are
• Increase following distance (sliding is not a skill)
• Stay home if you can
• Give plows and emergency vehicles plenty of room
🚨 Smoke & CO Detectors
• If it chirps, it’s not complaining — it needs a battery
• Working alarms save lives and property
👨🚒 Final Thought:
If the power goes out, grab a flashlight — not a candle.
We’d much rather wave at you from the parade line than your driveway at 2 a.m. 😅
Stay warm. Stay safe.
