Pediatric Speech, Language & Learning Center LLC was founded in 2004 by Emily Root, who has been a licensed speech pathologist for more than 15 years. Pediatric Speech, Language & Learning Center serves children ages 2-21 who present with a variety of communication difficulties, ranging from language delays to autism to stuttering. A member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the Stuttering Foundation of America, Emily is widely recognized as a leading expert in stuttering. Emily received her bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of California Santa Cruz and received her master’s degree in speech pathology from New York University. Emily began her career in a pediatric outpatient hospital setting and has extensive experience working with children in the public and private school settings. Emily also has supervised student clinics in a college setting. At Brooklyn College, Emily taught undergraduate and graduate level classes in the communication disorders department. In addition to her clinical accomplishments, Emily has taken doctoral-level classes at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, in the Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences Department. Emily believes in working closely with parents to help their children achieve their goals.

So excited to share that I will be presenting a two-day stuttering workshop in Vienna, Austria on September 18-19, 2026! It has been a year of collaboration and hard work, but my dream is coming true, with the help of my Austrian colleague, Monika Osborne. Did somebody say it is almost National Stuttering Awareness Day? Woo hoo, thank you, Mayor Mahr and the Fanwood Borough Council for recognizing the importance of stuttering acceptance and working to destigmatize stuttering in the community as a stuttering proclamation was issued on October 6th. National Stuttering Association conference. Thank you to everyone who came to my "Approaching Stuttering" workshop today and helped to make it so engaging and interactive!
