Our Car Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician is Patty Caldwell.

What to expect:
Preparing Before Your Appointment
• By appointment only
• Bringing child is highly recommended, but not required
• Know your child’s height and weight, if he/she is not coming to appointment
• Bring car/booster seat
• Bring car/booster seat owner’s manual, if available
• Bring vehicle owner’s manual, if available
• Have car/booster seat installed in your vehicle using the car seat manual
• Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual for proper installation
• Dress appropriately for the weather. Most of the appointment will be outside.
• Bad weather, call to reschedule
• Be prepared to learn! The technician will teach and assist you, not install the car/booster seat for you.

Upon Arrival:
• Park in front near mailbox (BCHD)
• Park under canopy at entrance (MCHD)
• Allow 30 – 45 minutes per appointment
• Allow more time for multiple car/booster seats and/or vehicles
• You will complete the top portion of the car seat check form
• Car/booster seat will be checked for child’s age and size
• Recalls will be checked for the car/booster seat and the vehicle
• Look for car/booster seat expiration date and or damage
• Assess how seat was installed by you
• Discuss any changes to installation
• Discuss next steps, such as when to move child to next car/booster seat
• Received written information on installing car/booster seats

After the checkup:
• Did you perform the installation?
• Do you feel confident about installing and using the car/booster seat correctly? If not, what are your concerns?
• Do you have any additional questions?
