The Tarot practice of Señor Gigio

The practice of reading Tarot cards is an ancient system of divination that has been respectively used by kings, queens & commonfolk alike in seeking life guidance, whether it be in affairs of love or in matters of business.

Gigio has been practicing the divination of Tarot cards for himself & others since 2014. In a pivotal moment of changing life trajectories to becoming a full-time artist & pursuing music independently, the Tarot proved to be a most worthy tool in blueprinting a life deemed impractical by society into a tangible physical reality.

For the last 3 years, Gigio has made his presence known as a Tarot reader on the corner of Telegraph Ave & Channing in Berkeley. That particular corner has been a host to psychic Tarot readers dating all the way back to the radical days of the '70s. As all the old timers of Then have retired & gone on to do other things, Gigio upholds this tradition with new youthful energy. You may see him casually set up on the street with his table, cards & crystals laid out, extending his Tarot as a means of giving back to the community sharing his practice to those who seek guidance & also for those simply curious of the experience.

In his personal life, Gigio is heavily devoted to his own spiritual path. He can be a generous wealth of information on many subjects like meditation, life patterns & mystical things in general. He continues to grow his gifts & study to learn new skills & tools that he practices in putting to use with his clients.

The following are Gigio's own words:

"It is my personal belief & overstanding that there is an Energy & a Presence that serves as a guiding force within every individual's life. No matter what your belief system denominates, it may be Jesus & Allah to some or Buddha & Krishna to others. Or it may be the nameless, the empty that is always full that is known as the Tao. Many people also are inclined in choosing to just live openly & pour that kind of devotion into simply just following what brings them happiness. Whichever way you break it down, all these pathways point to how we as humans make an effort to be in flow with something beyond ourselves. Life has its own special language that we try to learn & communicate with.

The Tarot cards are not special in that sense, that it is some supernatural phenomena that can only be explained as witchery or a manipulation of something that we just can't understand. On the contraire, the Tarot is simply a system of Cards designed in a way that makes it easier for your Life to communicate to you through these symbols, images & numbers. Before you sat down with that Gypsy woman & got your cards read, Life was already communicating to you beforehand through its own symbols & signs but perhaps you just weren't privy to the language or found yourself second-guessing it. So the divination of Tarot cards is really just a small though beautiful practice to put one in touch with the larger pictures Life uses to guide. It doesn't start nor does it end with the Tarot reading. It takes place all waking day & all dreaming night.

Now we know living to be Life & that to live one must be in the Present. If it is the Present where Life is to be lived then surely Life is a gift. Life is living & so it is. Your life deserves to be lived & wants to be lived fully, to abound happiness & creativity, to create more potential & possibility & therefore more life to be lived. I could go on & on with this sort of talk but it's real. Or as I like it to put it, 'Surreal Talk'.

I bring these things up to make my final point around my Tarot practice. There can be a lot of fear & misunderstanding around the power of Tarot cards. People will get the sense they are tapping in & communicating with something mysterious. This naturally creates fear for a lot of folks. And then of course, when some people take it too lightly, they miss out on the opportunity to connect with something greater than what we've been programmed to accept as reality.

In my work with the Tarot, the cards are used intentionally in that we actively invite that sacred part of your Life that wants you to be happy to lead. We open the space for your Life to communicate to you through the cards in helping & guiding you on a path that is of your highest alignment. Even if the messages that come up are harder to swallow at first, it's always constructive & instructive. There is not one single card that denotes singular positivity or exclusive negativity. Each card is neutral, containing the problem & the solution, just the same."
