What’s the difference between mania and hypomania? 🧠

Both involve elevated mood, less need for sleep, racing thoughts, and increased energy, but the key difference between the two is severity. Mania is more intense, significantly disrupts daily life, and may require hospitalization, while hypomania is “milder” and typically doesn’t cause major impairment (Source: [interborough.org/mania-and-hypomania-how-to-tell-them-apart/](https://www.interborough.org/mania-and-hypomania-how-to-tell-them-apart/))

Experiences can vary widely, and both are important to recognize and treat.

Creativity and mental health have long shared a complicated relationship. While diagnoses can’t be made with certainty after death, many historians and scholars believe that artists like Vincent van Gogh and Sylvia Plath may have experienced symptoms consistent with bipolar disorder. Their legacies continue to shape how we understand both creativity and mental health today.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that too many men are still struggling in silence. Men make up the majority of suicides in the U.S., yet are far less likely to seek professional help. Breaking this pattern starts with conversation, community, and access to support. Resources are included in the final slide. No one has to handle everything alone.
