As I get nearer to the day when I won't be working and coming to Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF)'s offices, I get all verklempt when I think of the folks who I won't see regularly. Charlly is one of my colleagues at the Ed Roberts Campus. He was a long time Oakland A's fan, and like other A's fans, he's weaning himself as they head to Sacramento and then Las Vegas.

By working for the Census Bureau, our community has a special opportunity to help make the 2020 Census an accurate and complete count. There are so many reasons our nation needs to be counted completely and accurately. The count happens every 10 years with the decennial census, which influences how more than $800 billion from more than 100 federal programs are distributed to states and localities each year. Here’s some of what the census numbers effect:

Health Services
Nutrition Assistance
Supportive Housing for Seniors
Special Education Grants
State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP)
