Bryant Funeral Homes & Crematory Cremation • Burial • Celebrations of Life • PrePlanning • Monuments & Granite Memorials

If a death has occurred, call us 24/7 at (603) 752-1344. Walters & Co.

Established in 1893 by Arthur W. Walters, our funeral home has been a pillar of service and support for area families for over a century. Since its founding, we have remained committed to providing compassionate care to those in need during life’s most difficult moments. In 1928, Bradford S. Parker joined A.W. and later purchased the business from Arthur Walters. Mr. Parker then formed a partnership with G. Harold Holmes, and together, they relocated the funeral home to its current location at 180 Hillside Avenue in Berlin. In 1966, Bertrand E. Bryant of Colebrook, NH, acquired the business. Alongside his wife, Beverly, Bert dedicated many years to serving the community with professionalism and care. Recognizing the need for expanded services, the Bryants acquired the Wilson Funeral Home business of Gorham and, in 1977, constructed a new facility at 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, which opened in 1978. Bert’s son, B. Edward Bryant, joined the family business in 1981, continuing the tradition of service. In 1995, Ed and his wife, Laurie, became the owners, ensuring that the funeral home remained locally owned and family-operated. As consumer preference for cremation increased over the years, the Bryants opened an on-site crematorium at the Berlin location in 2015. With more families choosing cremation, this addition ensured that loved ones remained under our direct care throughout the entire process, upholding our unwavering commitment to dignity, respect, and trust. The family legacy continued in 2016 when Ed and Laurie’s son, David, joined the funeral home following his graduation from FINE Mortuary College, marking the third generation of Bryant family funeral directors. In 2020, the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, formerly located on High Street, merged with our firm. Originally founded as Fleury Funeral Homes by Oscar F. Fleury in 1936, the firm served families across multiple generations, continuing through Oscar’s son-in-law, Raymond N. Patry, and later his grandson, Michael A. Patry. After Mr. Patry's retirement, the funeral home underwent several ownership transitions before ultimately returning to family ownership under the Bryant family, ensuring the continued legacy of compassionate and dedicated service. By bringing Fleury-Patry under our stewardship, we have ensured that families in our community continue to receive dignified and affordable services. Today, families previously served by Fleury-Patry Funeral Home are welcomed at our Berlin and Gorham locations, where we honor their traditions while offering the highest level of professional care. Today, we remain a funeral home that has earned the trust of generations in our communities and throughout the region. We remain steadfast in our mission: to serve the families of Berlin, Gorham, and the surrounding communities with the highest level of compassion, professionalism, and dedication. We are proud to be family-owned and family-trusted.

Lucille A Morneau

Lucille A. Morneau, 92, died peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Avita of Stroudwater, in Westbrook, Maine, where she had resided since August 2025. Lucille was a lifelong resident of Berlin, NH, until 2021 when she moved to Stroudwater Lodge Assisted Living in Westbrook, Maine with her sister, Pauline, and brother-in-law, Hubert Bouchard.

The daughter of Dorilda (Pelletier) and Joseph Morneau, Lulu (as she was known by family and friends) was born on December 14, 1933. She was the youngest of the twelve Morneaus and the last surviving sibling.

In her younger years, she also enjoyed cross-country skiing and cycling. She had fond memories of travels both in this country and abroad.

She treasured time spent with her brothers and sisters, and she cared deeply about her nieces and nephews and their children, enjoying the celebration of graduations, weddings, and the arrivals of new members of the extended Morneau family.

Members of her family include two of her nieces, Ann and Amy Bouchard, who provided care and support for her during her period of declining health. Lulu also leaves behind a legacy of many other nieces and nephews and their families.

Lulu was predeceased by her sisters, Therese Morneau, Cecile Parent, Jeannette Pinette, Pauline Bouchard, and by her brothers Armand, Roland, Albert, Rene, Philip, Edgar (Charlie), and Robert (Bob).

Stewart K. White

Stewart K. White, lifelong resident of Cascade Hill, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 27, 2026. Stewart was born in Berlin, New Hampshire, on September 4, 1953 to Richard and Emelda “Skippy” (Bigl) White. He attended St. Benedict Catholic School and was a 1971 graduate of Gorham High School. He was also a member of the Berlin Maroons hockey team in the 1970-1980's, traveling yearly to Lake Placid with his friends and teammates.

After earning several welding certificates, Stewart devoted 42 years to the Berlin paper mills, where he was known for the pride he took in his work. Upon retirement from the mill, he joined the welding instructor team at White Mountains Community College, where he mentored future welders and left a lasting impact on many students through his patience, skill, and guidance.

Stewart’s greatest accomplishment was his family, whom he adored and cherished with his whole heart. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren, teaching them how to “frog hunt” and how to roam the woods safely—sharing not only outdoor skills, but confidence, curiosity, and a respect for nature.

An avid outdoorsman, Stewart spent hours each day in the woods with his beloved dog, Remi. Together they were a remarkable bird-hunting pair. From childhood, Stewart’s life revolved around fishing, hunting, boating, and exploring the outdoors of Wentworth Location. His lifelong connection to the area eventually led him to build his dream camp, where he spent more than 30 years “vacationing,” a place that brought him great peace and joy.

Softball was another true passion in Stewart’s life. Throughout his coaching career, including both baseball and softball, he took great pride in the relationships he built and the talent he helped instill in countless players. His influence extended far beyond the field, shaping young athletes through encouragement, discipline, and respect.

Stewart is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Claire (Bourque) White; his daughter Holly and her husband Matthew Soprano; his mother Skippy White; his sister Marsha Morneau and her husband Charlie; his two beloved grandchildren, Luca and Aria; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Richard White, in 2012.

Stewart will be remembered for his devotion to family, his loyalty to his friends, his love of the outdoors, his dedication to the welding trade, and the many lives he touched as a mentor, coach, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10am at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Jan. 29th from 2-4 & 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to BHS Athletic Dept., Attn: Softball, 550 Willard St., Berlin, NH, 03570. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.

Roger J Moreau

Roger J. “Woger” Moreau, 80, of Berlin, passed away at his home on January 19, 2026. He was born in Berlin on November 14, 1945, the son of the late Clarence J. (CJ) and Doris Y. Moreau, and was a lifelong resident of Berlin. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served his country in both Korea and Germany.

Roger was employed over the years by Brown Company, Isaacson Structural Steel, Berlin City as a driver, and most recently Tractor Supply. He was a man who found freedom on two wheels, rarely happier than when riding his motorcycle with the open road ahead of him. A lifelong car enthusiast, he took great pride in the vehicles he owned and meticulously cared for, enjoying both their craftsmanship and the stories behind them, and he had a special talent for making any vehicle more eye-catching than what he considered boring factory stock. In his younger years, he also had a great affinity for both boating and fishing.

In retirement, Roger immersed himself in both technology and craftsmanship. He spent countless hours in his garage woodworking, where he meticulously crafted cutting boards and picture frames that were both beautiful and practical, which will continue to be cherished by family. He also pursued his interests in CNC machines, photography, electronics, drones, cameras, and everything Apple, always eager to learn, experiment, and stay current with the latest innovations. His passions reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for fine workmanship, leaving behind memories as enduring as the things he built.

He is survived by his children, Cindy “CJ” Valliere and her husband Scott of Berlin, and Ryan Gagnon and his girlfriend Crystal of Berlin; his grandchildren, Shaeleigh, Nolan, Addisyn, Broedy, Cadence, and Daniel; his sister, Stella Moreau of Hooksett, NH; and his former wife and close friend, Jan Moreau.

Our Story

Established in 1893 by Arthur W. Walters, the funeral home has served area families continuously since that time. In 1928, Bradford S. Parker became affiliated with A.W. Walters & Co. Mr. Parker purchased the business from Arthur Walters and later formed a partnership with G. Harold Holmes and they moved to the present location at 180 Hillside Avenue in Berlin. Bertrand E. Bryant of Colebrook, NH purchased the business in 1966. Bert, along with his wife Beverly operated the business for many years following. (Photo: Bev & Bert July 2015) In 1978, the Gorham location was constructed at 1 Promenade Street. Bert's son B. Edward Bryant became affiliated with the funeral home in 1981. In 1995, Ed and his wife Laurie became the owners of the business, with it remaining as a local family owned and operated funeral home. In 2015, the Bryant's opened an on-site crematorium at their Berlin funeral home to further serve families. As more families are turning to cremation as a means of disposition, the Bryant's decided to open an onsite crematory. By doing so, families know that their loved one never leaves our care. From the first call to the conclusion of services, we oversee the process every step of the way, ensuring the utmost level of care that has been entrusted to us. In 2016, Ed and Laurie were joined by their son David following his graduation from FINE Mortuary College, representing the third generation of Bryant family funeral directors. As a funeral home that has held the community’s trust for many years, our staff is here to serve the families of Berlin, Gorham and the surrounding communities with the utmost care and compassion along with the finest of service.
