MEET NANCY!!
At Gull Creek Senior Living, the heartwarming story of a remarkable woman is woven into the fabric of everyday life. Nearly a year ago, she made the decision to move closer to her church, Christ the Savior, and her son. Her new home not only offered a sense of community, but it also provided her with lots of activities to keep her vibrant spirit engaged. She cherishes the outings, looking forward to each month's planned events, embracing new adventures and friendships along the way.
Her journey to Gull Creek has been deeply influenced by her past service in the United States Air Force, where she dedicated 28 years as a staff nurse. Inspired by a poignant television commercial featuring military nurses urging, "We need you," she felt a call to serve and answered it wholeheartedly, rising from a second lieutenant to a lieutenant colonel. Her commitment extended beyond her own career; it mirrored the life of her late husband, who also served in the military.
Throughout her service, she witnessed heart-wrenching moments and the resilience of the human spirit. From tending to the smallest ailments to providing critical care for the gravely injured, she played an integral role in ensuring wounded soldiers received the care needed to journey back to their loved ones. Her responsibilities included accompanying patients in ambulance rides and on flights, as well as organizing medical supplies for transport, making every moment count in the invaluable mission of healing.
Being a veteran is a badge of honor for her. She takes immense pride in having served her country, noting that it has opened her eyes to experiences she might never have known otherwise. She reflects, “If you have anything to do with the military, especially helping people to get better, that is a special reward.”
Her story is a testament to resilience, love, and a lifelong commitment to service, serving as an inspiration to those around her in the vibrant community of Gull Creek.
