Berlin EMS is deeply saddened to share the passing of Dan Sullivan, Life Member and Past Officer, who dedicated many years service to our department and to the residents of Berlin.

Dan was more than a member, he was part of the foundation that built this organization into what it is today. His leadership, commitment, and quiet determination helped shape our past and secure our future. Through countless hours of hard work, Dan was instrumental in helping fund and build our existing EMS building. Many will remember him standing proudly at coin drops at the Berlin Farmers Market, rain or shine, greeting neighbors with a smile and sharing the vision of a stronger EMS for our community. He also worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help secure loans for the association, ensuring that Berlin EMS had the resources it needed to grow and serve.

Because of Dan’s dedication, we have a home to respond from. Because of his commitment, generations of EMS providers have had the tools and support necessary to answer the call.

Life Members like Dan are the heart of volunteer service, the steady hands that build, guide, and protect the organization long before and long after the sirens fade. His legacy is not just in the walls of our building, but in every call answered, every life touched, and every member who walks through our doors.

We extend our deepest condolences to Dan’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving beside him. Thank you, Dan, for your years of leadership, loyalty, and love for Berlin EMS. Your impact will forever remain part of our story.

Rest easy, Dan. We will take it from here. 🚑

This is extremely hard to write..Today we said our final goodbye to EMT Frank Lord.

Standing together at his services, surrounded by family, friends, and our EMS brothers and sisters, was a powerful reminder of just how many lives Frank touched. He didn’t just serve this community, he lived to serve it. For years, Frank answered the call without hesitation, day or night, always with compassion, humility, and that steady presence that made everyone feel just a little bit safer.

Frank wasn’t just an EMT. He was a partner, a mentor, a friend, and a constant in our department. His dedication to the residents he cared for and to the members he served beside never went unnoticed. The countless hours, the missed holidays, the long nights, he gave them willingly because that’s who he was. Selfless. Loyal. Kind.

Today was incredibly difficult.. A reminder of just how short life can be..

A heartfelt thank you to our brothers and sisters from Atco EMS and Winslow EMS for covering our department, so we can honor our brother's memory. In moments like these, we are reminded that this profession is more than a job, it is a family.

Frank, thank you for your years of unwavering service, your gentle heart, and your warrior spirit. Thank you for every life you touched and every shift you worked with pride. You may be out of uniform, but your impact will live on in all of us and in this community forever.

You will be deeply missed.
Rest easy, Frank. We’ll take it from here. 🚑💙

💔 With heavy hearts… 💔

Berlin EMS is deeply saddened to share the sudden passing of our brother, EMT Frank Lord, who faithfully served our department and this community for many years. Frank completed his final shift just yesterday morning serving the residents of Berlin one last time, exactly as he always did, with compassion, humility, and quiet strength.

Frank was truly one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. He had a gentle presence, a giving heart, and an unwavering dedication to helping others. His love for his wife and his beloved fur babies was evident in every story he shared and every smile he wore. They were his world.

To Frank, EMS was more than a job, it was a calling. He dedicated his life to serving those in their most vulnerable moments, never seeking recognition, only wanting to help. His impact will forever be felt in the lives he touched, the patients he comforted, and the coworkers who were blessed to serve alongside him.

We are all shaken by this loss, and our hearts ache for his family during this unimaginable time. Frank will always be a part of the Berlin EMS family, and his legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in all of us.

Rest easy, Frank. Thank you for everything. You will never be forgotten. We will take it from here. 🚑💙

❄️ Snow Safety Reminder from Berlin EMS ❄️

As winter weather moves through our area, please remember to stay safe and use caution when traveling. Snow and icy conditions can make roads and sidewalks dangerous.

🚑 Please call 911 for true emergencies only.
Limiting non-emergency calls helps keep our ambulances available for life-threatening situations and allows crews to reach those in critical need as quickly as possible.

🧤 Safety tips to keep in mind:
• Avoid unnecessary travel during storms
• Walk carefully to prevent slips and falls
• Dress warmly and check on elderly neighbors
• Keep walkways clear when it’s safe to do so

Our crews are out and ready to respond—thank you for helping us help the community. Stay safe, Berlin! 💙

Berlin EMS is preparing our shovels, crews and fueling up our ambulances for the storm.

Here are a few tips to help you and your family:
❄️During the winter storm that is predicted to come to our area we would like to remind our residents to shovel in small amounts. It is better to do a little at a time.
❄️While it may be cold and snowing while you are shoveling, dont forget to stay hydrated and stretch to avoid injuries.
❄️Please shovel your sidewalks at least 2 feet wide to make a clear path to your main entrance.
❄️Check on your elderly neighbors's to make sure they are okay during the length of the storm.
❄️Because we are expecting a great amount of snow, please park your vehicles in your drive ways to give the public works department enough room to clear off the roadways.
❄️Put together a supply kit. That may include: food, water, flash light, radio, medications and other important supplies.
❄️With the possibility of high winds and power outages, charge your phones and your charging devices.
❄️To avoid frostbite or hypothermia, limit your time outdoors and wear appropriate snow gear.
❄️Keep your pets indoors as much as possible. They can get cold too just like their two legged friends.
❄️And as always,
If you do not have to travel during the time frame of the storm, please stay home. And if you have to travel... STAY SAFE!
