DAY 2 & 3
Early the next morning, our flight to Bocas made the unusual journey from the Pacific to the Atlantic by flying due west. By mid-morning we were reunited with our friends, stocked up on groceries, and taking the first of many water-taxi rides to our house—Casa del Fuego—on nearby Isla Carenero. With no roads on the island, we explored on foot, found a surfboard rental spot, and walked the ~2-mile loop trail around Carenero. Later that afternoon we were out on surfboards learning the “black rock” breaks and doing our best to catch a few rides.
The next day Jay and Holly’s Aspen neighbors, Cecelia and Eric, joined us as the last two members of our group. We gave them hardly any time to set down their luggage before jumping straight into what would become our daily routine: flagging down a water taxi at the end of our dock and heading out to explore this tropical paradise.
