Dear Patients, Families, and Friends,
We are writing to provide an update on our practice policies as well as information about the long awaited Coronavirus vaccine.
Growth and Wellness Pediatrics remains open for normal business hours. We continue to offer both in-person and virtual visits. We encourage all of our patients and families to stay up to date on vaccines, routine check ups and follow up appointments. If your child(ren) is in need of a well visit or follow up visit, please call the office to schedule an appointment. (Virtual visits are possible for check-ups if you would prefer).
We request that all patients over 2 yrs of age and their families continue to use face coverings for the duration of the visit. If anyone in your household is feeling ill, please notify our staff in advance of your appointment. If you are in need of Coronavirus testing, we now offer testing at an outdoor facility Monday through Saturday.
We are pleased to announce that both Drs. Warner and Levitt have been vaccinated against Coronavirus! Many of our patients and families have questions about the new Coronavirus vaccines. There are currently two COVID19 vaccinations being distributed in the United States at this time - the Moderna vaccine and the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. The Moderna vaccine is approved for adults 18 yrs and up. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is approved for children and adults 16 yrs and up. There are clinical trials in process to study the safety and efficacy of the vaccines in younger children 12 yrs of age and older.
Growth and Wellness Pediatrics does not have the Coronavirus vaccine in stock at this time. There is a national shortage and doses are being prioritized for individuals at increased risk. If you or your families are eligible for the vaccine, please refer to the website, https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/pages/vaccine, to find local vaccination sites. Several pharmacies, including Giant, Safeway, Walgreens, will also be offering the vaccine in the coming weeks. Additional information about the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines can be found on the CDC website, https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/index.html and https://covidlink.maryland.gov/content/vaccine/.
While the Coronavirus vaccine may not be readily available to many of our patients, there are several critical vaccines we give our patients each day to protect them against other viruses such as Measles, Chickenpox, Influenza, Hepatitis and others. We encourage all of our patients and families to stay up to date on vaccines and routine check-ups.
Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to care for your children. We look forward to seeing you at your next scheduled appointment.
Sincerely,
Gail Warner, MD and Rebecca Levitt, MD
