Halloween is almost here! 🎃

For families with neurodiverse children, the excitement can come with sensory challenges. A bit of planning can help everyone enjoy the night:

✅ Prep together – Discuss costumes, routes, and timing expectations in advance
✅ Sensory modifications – Choose softer costumes, skip masks if needed, or trick-or-treat earlier before crowds arrive
✅ Exit strategy – Identify a quiet space nearby and agree on signals when your child needs a regulation break

As both a mediator and parent of neurodiverse children, I know how important it is for co-parents to align on these approaches—especially when managing Halloween across two households.

If you know parents or co-parents struggling to coordinate Halloween or other special event plans for their neurodivergent child, I offer no-obligation free consultations to explore how mediation might help.

🍬 With preparation and coordination, Halloween can be fun for everyone!

Facing separation or divorce? 💔

Before heading to court, consider mediation—a less adversarial, more cost-effective path that keeps you in control of decisions about your family's future.

As both a mediator and parent, I help families navigate separation and divorce by keeping children's needs at the center while protecting parent-child relationships on both sides. Your children don't have to be caught in the middle or forced to choose sides.

Mediation helps you create agreements that work for your unique family situation rather than leaving those decisions to a judge who doesn't know you.

If you know someone facing separation or divorce who wants a less contentious path forward, I offer no-obligation free consultations to explore whether mediation might help.

The holidays are almost here—bringing year-end goals and added stress for family businesses. 💼

When business and family overlap, small tensions can escalate quickly. As a family mediator and former general counsel and C-Level executive, I help family businesses address conflicts before they damage either the business or the relationships.

Mediation creates structured space where business objectives and family bonds both receive protection.

If you know a family business struggling with holiday stress or ongoing tensions, I offer no-obligation free consultations.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! 💙

At Feig Mediation Group, my work with neurodiverse and special needs families is deeply personal. As a parent of three neurodiverse children, I bring both lived experience and professional expertise to helping families navigate the unique challenges of raising exceptional kids.

Whether you're facing decisions about therapies, educational accommodations, or how to support your child's development, I understand the complexity these choices carry—and how they can become sources of conflict between parents who see things differently.

Mediation creates space where both parents' perspectives are heard and your child's unique needs stay at the center of every decision.

If you know families with neurodiverse or special needs children who could use support navigating important decisions together, I offer no-obligation free consultations to explore how mediation might help.

Fall sports are in full swing! 🍂⚽

While everyone's cheering from the sidelines, co-parents are managing getting the players on the field: coordinating schedules, carpools, equipment, snack duty, and who's covering which games when you both want to be there.

As both a mediator and parent, I've seen how fall sports season can amplify co-parenting stress. One parent feels like they're doing all the driving. The other feels excluded from important moments. Your child just wants both parents at their games without the tension.

Instead of letting the season's pace create more conflict, mediation helps you proactively create a game plan that actually works:
- Clear schedules that account for both parents' commitments
- Agreeable distribution of transportation and responsibilities
- Strategies for handling overlapping events
- Ways to share important moments without stress

If you know co-parents struggling with fall sports logistics and coordination, I offer no-obligation free consultations to explore how mediation might help create smoother systems. 301-485-9272

Family Business Planning: When Quarterly Reviews Become Family Dynamics 💼

Strategic planning sessions in family-owned businesses often reveal an inherent tension: the need for objective business decisions complicated by deeply personal family relationships.

As a family mediator, former C-Level executive, and someone who understands complex family dynamics, I've observed how business discussions can activate historical patterns, unresolved conflicts, and competing visions for organizational direction. The intersection of family loyalty and fiduciary responsibility creates unique challenges that traditional business consulting doesn't address.

Professional mediation provides structured frameworks where every stakeholder's perspective receives consideration without emotional escalation that typically derails productive strategic planning. This approach proves particularly valuable when addressing succession planning, governance structures, role clarification, and capital allocation decisions.

For professionals advising family businesses: Mediation can complement and support legal, financial, and strategic consulting by addressing the interpersonal dynamics that often impede implementation of otherwise sound business strategies.

Whether navigating succession planning, role definitions, or financial decisions, mediation helps family businesses develop solutions that strengthen both operational effectiveness and family relationships.

If you know a family business managing the tension between protecting profitability and preserving relationships—or if you're a professional with clients facing these challenges—I would be grateful for your referral. I offer no-obligation consultations to explore how specialized mediation might help.

Late drop-offs happening again? ⏰

Chronic lateness from your co-parent isn't just frustrating—it disrupts your child's routines, creates anxiety, and can strain relationships. But what if lateness isn't about disrespect - or even intentional?

For neurodivergent families, chronic lateness can often stem from neurology - such as executive function challenges - rather than intention. For example, "Time blindness"—difficulty estimating how long tasks take—can create genuine struggles with timing, especially when managing multiple transitions.

As both a mediator AND a parent in a neurodiverse family, I've written about moving beyond the blame cycle to understand what's really happening and create solutions that work for everyone.

The key? Shifting from "This is disrespectful" to "This is a functional challenge we can address, together."

If you know parents or co-parents caught in the frustration of the chronic lateness cycle, I offer no-obligation free consultations to explore how mediation might help break these patterns.
