Erectile changes after a prostatectomy are incredibly common and very normal, but they can also feel overwhelming and scary when you are going through them.

In our last Q&A on men’s health, Dr Terry answers a question we hear often: can pelvic floor physical therapy actually help with erectile function after prostate surgery

The answer is yes, and it is always a multimodal approach. 🩺💊🧘🏽‍♂️ We work closely with your urologist or surgeon to support what they have already prescribed, whether that is Cialis or another medication to encourage healthy blood flow 🩸
We also guide you through safe and effective use of a pe**le pump, teach strategies to improve pelvic floor muscle coordination, and talk about the role of regular cardiovascular exercise in improving overall circulation and erectile strength.

Most of all, we want to normalize the experience. Erectile dysfunction after a prostatectomy is common, expected, and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. With time, support, and a multi layered plan, many people see meaningful improvements.

If you or someone you love is navigating this stage of recovery, we are here to help 🫶🏾

November is Men’s Health Awareness Month — a good time to talk about something most men (and people assigned male at birth) rarely hear about: pelvic floor health.

Your pelvic floor supports your bladder, bowel, and s*xual function. When it’s not working well, it can show up as:
💧 Urgency or leakage
💩 Constipation or straining
⚡ Pelvic, testicular, or groin pain
❤️ Sexual dysfunction — such as pain with arousal, erectile difficulties, or difficulty with ej*******on

These issues aren’t “just part of getting older.” They can happen at any age — from heavy lifting, sports injuries, chronic constipation, GI or autoimmune issues, or even years of “holding it in.”

Pelvic floor therapy can help you retrain these muscles, improve coordination, and restore confidence in your body and intimacy.

Let’s clear up the myths and start normalizing this conversation.

Vaginal dryness, irritation, or pain with intimacy are common during perimenopause and menopause, but they do not have to be your new normal.

In this quick tutorial, Dr. Megan breaks down how to use topical (vaginal) estrogen cream in simple steps:

1️⃣ Assess your tissues. Use a mirror and notice areas that look or feel different, such as dryness, chafing, or tenderness.
2️⃣ Apply and gently massage the cream into those tissues for about a minute.
3️⃣ Reassess over time. Some women notice changes within 2 to 4 weeks, while fuller results often appear around 8 to 12 weeks as the tissues gradually rebuild and rehydrate.

According to the North American Menopause Society and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, local vaginal estrogen is a safe and effective first line treatment for symptoms like dryness, irritation, and discomfort during s*x.

Consistency matters. Healthier, more resilient tissue means greater comfort and confidence. 💛

As we wrap up Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s important to talk about something that often gets overlooked — pelvic health. 💗

Many breast cancer survivors experience vaginal dryness, pain with intimacy, urinary urgency or leakage, and pelvic pain.

These changes are often side effects of life-saving treatments — like chemotherapy, radiation, or hormone-blocking medications such as aromatase inhibitors (AIs) — which lower estrogen levels throughout the body.

That’s where vaginal estrogen therapy can sometimes make a meaningful difference. While many people still worry about its safety because of older studies on systemic estrogen, newer research shows that low-dose local estrogen acts differently — and can often be used safely under medical guidance.

Supporting pelvic health after breast cancer means restoring comfort, confidence, and connection. 💗 In the next post we’ll share about tips on how to apply vaginal estrogen cream.
