Virtual urgent care begins with a nurse assessment to help ensure patients receive the right level of care.

When you contact the MHS Nurse Advice Line, a registered nurse reviews your medical concern and determines whether it can be addressed through a virtual urgent care appointment or if another type of care is more appropriate.

This nurse-guided approach supports safe, timely care decisions for eligible service members, veterans, and family members, when clinically appropriate.

🩸 Walter Reed roll call…

If your blood type is O or A, we’d love a moment of your time (and one rolled-up sleeve).

The Armed Services Blood Program is collecting donations to help keep lifesaving blood ready for service members, families, retirees, and patients across the Military Health System. It’s a simple way to do something meaningful while you’re already on campus.

📅 Now – March 13
🕰️ 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
📍 Blood Donation Center, Bldg. 9, Level 1
📞 Schedule: (301) 295-2104 | Walk-ins welcome

Don’t know your blood type? No problem, come by anyway and we’ll take care of the rest.

Note: If you donated during the Jan. 20-23 drive, you’ll be eligible again starting March 18.

A small poke. A big impact. ❤️

Teamwork across institutions, and across months of care, made this moment possible.

Specialists from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center recently gathered at NIH with patient Alessandro Colombo to mark the completion of a complex treatment journey. The collaboration concluded with delivery of a custom dental prosthetic by maxillofacial prosthodontists from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School at Walter Reed.

Partnerships like this reflect the strength of military medicine and the shared commitment to restoring function and improving quality of life for patients.

Virtual urgent care may help address certain non-emergency health concerns, when clinically appropriate. These may include sinus congestion or infections, cough, allergies, sore or hoarse throat, rashes, acne, muscle or joint pain, and headaches.

A registered nurse reviews your symptoms and determines whether virtual urgent care provides the right option for your care needs.
