This week on Bone to Pick, I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Rajeev Pandarinath, MD — a name synonymous with precision, compassion, and excellence in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Pandarinath’s journey spans Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill, UCLA, and the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, where he mastered the art of arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He’s served as Director of Sports Medicine at George Washington University and now continues changing lives every day at OrthoBethesda, helping athletes, weekend warriors, and everyday patients move pain-free again.
In this episode, we dive into what it takes to truly rebuild movement — from the decisions that go into surgery vs. rehab, to the teamwork between surgeons, therapists, and patients that makes recovery possible. We also talk about the mental side of healing, long-term outcomes, and how technology is shaping the next generation of orthopedic care.
If you’ve ever experienced shoulder, hip, or knee pain, or you’re fascinated by the comeback stories behind modern sports medicine, this one’s for you.
