Rotator cuff calcific tendinopathy! Can be a real pain. Luckily, with the advent of many non-operative modalities, most of the time surgery can be avoided. Here is the case where a patient had persistent pain despite a trial of many nonsurgical methods.

1️⃣ Video showing calcium being removed from the rotator cuff tendon
2️⃣ Resultant defect in the rotator cuff tendon after removing the calcium deposit
3️⃣ Completed repair of the rotator cuff tendon tear!

Had a great time at 2024 meeting, learning from the pioneers in the field. Meetings like this are a great reminder that one of the best parts of this job is the never ending learning.

The other great part is getting to see old friends, eating great food, and sleeping without a 3 year old kicking you in the face (though I missed that like crazy 😊)

Great way to end the week! One of my favorite surgeries to perform. Labral tears of the hip can be quite debilitating, and can really limit one’s quality of life.

Here’s a great case of a 40 year old female with a hip labral tear. After months of rehabilitation without any meaningful improvement, we opted for arthroscopic repair. With the help of her fantastic physical therapists, she is thankfully doing very well just 8 weeks from surgery, with complete resolution of her preoperative pain 💪

Also, the music helps ;)

1️⃣ Large hip labral tear associated with chondromalacia (injury to the near by cartilage)

2️⃣ Labral repair using suture anchors securing the labrum back to the acetabulum (socket)
