April is . This month, we join communities around the world in celebrating autistic individuals and honoring the voices, experiences, and strengths that make our community stronger.

Autism Acceptance Month is about moving beyond awareness and embracing true inclusion. It is about recognizing and valuing neurodiversity, respecting each person’s individuality, and creating spaces where autistic people feel supported, empowered, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Acceptance means making room for every person to thrive. It means fostering belonging, encouraging understanding, and building communities where differences are not only acknowledged, but embraced!

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! New York's I/DD system urgently needs more funding to ensure stability for people with disabilities, their families, and providers. A strong budget creates a strong care system.

Awareness matters, but funding is critical. The I/DD community and its dedicated workforce rely on stable, sustained funding to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality care. Without it, essential services are at risk. We must continue to speak up for those who cannot always advocate for themselves. Together, we can protect services, strengthen the workforce, and invest in the people who depend on them. 📣 Fill out this form to urge your legislators to prioritize increased funding today: https://bit.ly/4cav5wG

Signs of support 🧡

As we celebrate we were proud to stand with our sister organizations today at Brentwood State Park to stand up for the I/DD community.

As we await the Governor's Executive Budget, we are advocating for:
🔸An increase to the Targeted Inflationary Increase (TII) from 1.7% to 2.7%
🔸Workforce Support for housing grants, tax credits and healthcare allocations
🔸Infrastructure and Stable Care Support for new projects and programs

The I/DD community relies on a support system that requires continued investment. Help us urge our legislators to invest in all New Yorkers with I/DD and those who support them.

Yesterday, we filled the Capitol with a strong and clear message: New York must invest in I/DD services and the workforce that cares for them. Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and stood together. Our work is far from over - we will continue to fight for meaningful change. Please share this post.

⏰Final reminder - we're rallying today at 11:30! It's time to show why funding matters. Please stand with us as we call on legislators for a 2.7% targeted inflationary increase, CareForce affordability initiatives, and childcare and healthcare enhancements. Your neighbors are counting on you.
