This is a Full-Time Position seeing approximately 25 clients per week. Hours are flexible. Four-day work week. Must be warm and compassionate. Great environment and support to help you. Compassion Counseling Inc. is excited to announce the addition of Maria Grzybek, LMHC to our team. Maria is a seasoned counselor who was trained at Benedictine University in 1996. She has worked in community mental health serving people ages 18-80 who have a variety of emotional and mental health concerns. Maria prefers to take a well-ness oriented approach with training and utilization of evidence-based therapies, trauma informed care, mindfulness-based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, stress management, client centered counseling and 12 step recovery. We are so happy to have recently completed our THIRD office expansion in the last year. We are blessed to have added two more therapists’ offices, as well as an entirely new checkout counter!

As this pandemic continues to rage on, most counseling offices in our community have turned to strictly telehealth. Here at Compassion Counseling Inc., we want to give our clients the highest level of care we can offer. We are committed to face-to-face, in-person counseling as we believe that therapy is much more effective when it is done in-person, as opposed to through a screen.

To ensure everyone's safety, we strive to keep our offices as clean as possible. We have masks and hand sanitizer readily available to all of our clients & counselors, and each and every office is equipped with a top-of-the-line air purifier.

In 2022, we look forward to serving our community in the best way possible.

Erica Willits, LMHC, has been working in the mental health field for the past 12 years. She received her Masters’ Degree in Counseling from Western Illinois University. Erica earned her Bachelors’ Degree in Psychology from South Illinois University. Most of her clinical experience has been working with school aged children in community mental health agencies. She also has experience working with adults, with varied areas of concern, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, women’s issues and self-esteem.

Erica would like to create a warm and accepting environment to work through life’s challenges. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process, where we work together to generate change, achieve goals and engage in personal growth.

"Bullying can exacerbate existing mental health challenges. Sadly, bullying has negative short and long-term consequences for children and adolescents who have experienced it directly, as well as for those who have been exposed indirectly as witnesses. Youth who have been exposed to bullying can endure detrimental psychological, physical, and academic effects. The psychological manifestations of being bullied involve depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harming behaviors, alcohol and drug use, as well as aggression."

The negative consequences go beyond psychological distress.
