A tongue tie isn’t diagnosed just because a frenulum is visible. It’s diagnosed when restriction impacts:
▫️ Breathing
▫️ Sleep quality
▫️ Jaw development
▫️ Speech clarity
▫️ Swallowing patterns
▫️ Neck & facial tension
You can have a “small-looking” tie with big symptoms…
Or a prominent frenulum with zero functional restriction.
Assessment should always include movement, compensation patterns, and symptoms — not just appearance.
