I sit in the dark,
The doctor shines a light in my eyes.
I follow the letters on the wall,
Trying to see which one is the best.

The doctor puts drops in my eyes,
And I blink away the sting.
He asks me to read the letters again,
And I see that they are clearer now.

He checks my eyes for pressure,
And then he dilates my pupils.
The world is a blur,
But I know that it is all for a good cause.

The doctor takes a look at my eyes,
And tells me that I am healthy.
He gives me a new prescription for glasses,
And I am grateful for his help.

I leave the eye doctor's office,
And the world is a brighter place.
I can see the leaves on the trees,
And the smile on my friend's face.

I am grateful for my eyes,
And for the doctor who helps me to see.
I will take care of my eyes,
So that I can enjoy the beauty of the world.
