I was reminded of a quote commonly attributed to Albert Einstein, although but there’s no verified source confirming he actually said or wrote it. The quote goes:
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
I scored a 149 on an IQ test about 2 years ago and a 121 the other day.
The conditions in which I took each test were completely different.
• acute or chronic stress
• anxiety or performance pressure
• poor or insufficient sleep
• circadian rhythm disruption
• blood sugar instability (fasting, crashes, reactive hypoglycemia)
• dehydration
• hunger or inadequate caloric intake
• illness or inflammation
• hormonal imbalance (cortisol, thyroid, testosterone/estrogen)
• nervous system dysregulation
• emotional distress or rumination
• distraction or divided attention
• sensory overload (noise, lights, discomfort)
• unfamiliar or evaluative environments
• time pressure or rushed pacing
• cognitive fatigue or burnout
• overthinking / perfectionism
• lack of motivation or engagement
I love the way I feel when I’m running on all 12 cylinders and am committed to setting a new standard for myself starting right now.
Who’s with me?
