I’ll admit, I was a little nervous to operate on my uncle David. That’s totally normal when you’re working on family.

He had all the classic signs of aging: heaviness in the lower face, loose skin in the neck, and tired-looking lower eyes.

We approached it in two stages. First, I addressed his eyes. Then, we came back and performed a lower face and neck lift.

In this video, he’s just 2.5 weeks post-op—and look at that jawline. The transformation is already incredible. His face looks more structured, his neck is clean, and the overall improvements are substantial.

What makes this even more impressive? He’s someone who’s lost hair - and I hear it all the time from male patients:
“I want to look natural. I don’t want visible scars.”

That’s where tension-free closures make all the difference. When we offload tension properly, the incisions become nearly invisible - even in patients without hair to hide them.

He looks younger, healthier, stronger, and more masculine, which is exactly what a great jawline conveys.

In his case, I removed his submandibular glands and used the crevasse technique along with fat grafting, including nano-fat to the lips. No dry mouth. No issues. Just clean, powerful results.

Sometimes, it’s all about the eyes.

For this patient, I performed an upper eyelid surgery along with a face and neck lift, but I really focused on the eyes and brows.

We removed the excess skin from the upper lids and lifted the lateral brow to re-balance the footprint of the eye.

She looks so much brighter, more open—and her neck looks amazing too.

Lower eyelids are an important indicator of aging. This gentleman wanted improvement for his lower eyelids.

Following a prior upper eyelid surgery performed elsewhere, I identified issues such as heaviness and excess fat in the lower eyelids.

I suggested removal and repositioning of fat, known as fat repositioning. This technique allows me to enhance the cheek area by utilizing the patient’s own fat with a good blood supply while addressing concerns like under-eye circles and puffiness.

Despite skin laxity and poor skin quality, the results look great. To further improve the outcome, I plan to perform another laser treatment on the lower eyelids.

Combining procedures like fat transfer, the use of nano fat, laser treatments, and other treatments helps ensure excellent results and minimizes the risk of complications associated with lower eyelid surgery.

This young woman came to me with a desire to improve her lower face & neck, though she faced a unique challenge - a medical condition impeding her healing process.

With extra care, we aimed to prevent any potential healing issues. Around the 4-6 week mark, her skin showed incredible progress, and we fine-tuned a few additional aspects.

These photos show her 6 months out and her neckline has improved, sculpting her face and neck beautifully. Her jawline looks excellent and she feels a lot better.

I’m so happy that we were able to give her contour back and re-create her neckline, which is amazing and aligns perfectly with her personality.

More importantly, I’m glad that my state of the art approach to wound healing mitigated any expected issues in her case.

Daniel Gould, MD Ph.D., is a USC Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Graduate. He has specialized training in research through the Medical Scientist Training Program and has authored over 90 peer-reviewed articles and over 200 presentation abstracts, in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Daniel trained under Dr. Grant Stevens for the past five years and specializes in surgical and non-surgical aesthetic services.

He has presented at the national and international conferences for aesthetic and cosmetic surgery seven times in the last six years and received the Sherrell Aston award for academic contributions as a second-year resident. He is on the editorial board for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.

Daniel's interests include breast surgery, liposuction, fat grafting, body contouring, and facial surgery.
