Kamala Harris just released her medical summary and she has a significant allergy history. She suffers from seasonal allergic rhinitis and hives. She is currently on immunotherapy (it doesn’t specify shots or sublingual) Allegra, Pataday and Atrovent nasal spray. She has been on immunotherapy for the past 3 years (it doesn’t specify shots or sublingual). Her symptoms have “improved dramatically” although immunotherapy doesn’t not treat urticaria and her doctor most likely made an error attributing it to that. The continued use of Atrovent also leads us to believe she also has non-allergic rhinitis, which the report didn’t state, otherwise a steroid nasal spray would have been preferable. The short answer is, no. With side effects such as sedation, poor attention, memory loss and being linked to dementia and Alzheimer’s, there are much other better options available such as Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec and others. It is a myth that it has a faster onset of action and better efficacy. To read more click link in bio. There are people who use it for insomnia which is a different matter and you should speak to your doctor if you do.

Thank you to Yahoo news for linking to my website www.allergylosangeles.com in this article about Joe Biden’s condition. Having asthma can complicate Covid recovery, the President has been using Albuterol on an as needed basis due to coughing. Biden has had viral induced asthma since childhood which even got him out of being drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. Although this did not preclude him from playing football and being a lifeguard.

Honored to be part of LA’S BEST DOCTORS this year again. I was not given an Academy Award today as the photo suggests, but it was my rudimentary photoshop skills (I cut it out of the magazine and pasted it on the cover).

The short answer is most likely yes. Drugs need to have 90-110% of label strength. Studies have shown that even after 20 years they show over 80% label strength. But they have should been kept away from extreme temperatures. That is not to say not to refill your expired medications, but if that’s all you have, use it. To read more, click link in bio.

Monday night, Austin Rivers of the had a team meal and then hit the gym at , shortly afyer his eyes started to swell, nearly closing shut, and his nose was swollen. A rash developed and he had trouble breathing. An ambulance took him to the hospital and he received an Epipen and IV steroids. Though it’s been almost a day since the incident took place, Rivers has no clue what caused it but thought maybe it was mold. I personally have not treated him in LA, but the history is consistent with Food Dependent Exercise Induced Anaphylaxis (FDEIA) and not mold allergy. This is a distinct form of food allergy induced by physical exercise. He will be seeing an allergist in Denver to work up the cause. played 30 minutes in a loss the following night against the where he only scored 4 points. He stated "You go through something like that, you really appreciate everything you have in life."
