Infants are first vaccinated for pertussis at 6-8 weeks. Before that, they are protected against pertussis only if their friends and neighbors are vaccinated. We do it for the littlest amongst us.

In an NBC News data investigation of 31 states, about 70% of counties and jurisdictions fell below the target vaccination rate needed for community protection.

Luckily, CT has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country. So, if science is real, we are very unlikely to see spread here the same way we have in the south. Stay tuned!
