As you plan for the holidays, remember that pertussis circulates amongst the unvaccinated as well as those whose protection has waned. Adults can make sure their Tdap boosters are up to date while families with infants too young for the vaccine should take extra care if traveling to high risk areas.

A third infant has died from pertussis in Kentucky within the past 12 months, state health officials announced Monday.

We are aware of the recent ByHeart formula recall. If infants are feeding well and moving normally, then serious muscle weakness is incredibly unlikely. Please monitor especially closely for 30 days after last possible exposure and call with any concerns.

Federal and state health officials are investigating 13 cases in 10 U.S. states of infant botulism linked to baby formula that is being recalled.
