Eastern Trail parkrun Biddeford

Eastern Trail parkrun Biddeford A FREE, weekly, timed 5k run/jog/walk on a Saturday. Open to all ages and all abilities - each week Please register at www.parkrun.us.

Registration only needs to be completed once - you can then attend and participate in any parkrun around the world. Please make sure you have a copy of your barcode (generated when you register) with you at each event. If you don't have your barcode your parkrun result will not be recorded.

Overnight precipitation left a blanket of a couple of inches of snow for 13 participants and 10 volunteers at event #152 on The Eastern Trail. Thank you to all in attendance for another great morning.

This week's warmer temperatures and precipitation have been lovely however they have not done enough to clear the back half of our course completely of snow and ice. With a chance of more precipitation overnight please be prepared for a muddy expedition on our alternate course in the morning.

Damp conditions and an unplowed trail did not dampen the spirits of 21 participants and 10 volunteers present for event #151 on The Eastern Trail . While the snow on the trail made for slow going Mile managed to record a new personal best - congratulations!!!!
A big welcome to first time parkrunner Lilly! We hope you had a great experience and will join us again as soon as you are able to.
We were also visited this morning by a boomerang named Bi11. Bi11 started his journey in Australia and has made its way around the world from one parkrun to another. Bi11 will spend the next week enjoying Maine with Barbara before heading to a different parkrun next Saturday. Which parkrun will it be? A decision hasn't been made yet and may depend on the weather!

Wondering what to expect this morning? Here's what Deane has found!
The course is crunchy but fine. Underneath the overpass is slippery like last week but the ice is snow covered so folks should be careful. Spikes recommended but not necessary.

On the bright side, it looks like we'll be met with cloudy conditions rather than rain! Conditions could be a little slushy after this morning's snow and the potential for rain overnight. Please dress appropriately.

The weather forecast looks like Saturday morning could be a little wet but that won't dampen our spirits, especially with the excitement of meeting Bi11 the parkrun boomerang. Please keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately.

A touch of spring was in the air as glorious sunshine greeted participants and volunteers at the 150th parkrun on The Eastern Trail. Thank you to all in attendance for being a part of this special day. It's amazing to think that we have been operating for nearly 3 years. Each week it is exciting to welcome new friends to our event and we are proud of the community we have created. We look forward to many more events and hope to welcome many more new friends along the way.
We would like to thank our volunteers. Not just the 9 individuals that helped to ensure the success of today's event, but everyone that has volunteered over the past 150 events. Our event is completely operated by volunteers. No one gets paid and it's thanks to the gracious gift of time and effort by those willing to help out that we are able to operate each weekend. We are truly grateful for everyone that volunteers with us and would love to welcome new volunteers so we can share the load. Please reach out and let us know if you're interested in volunteering or would like more information.

Special congratulations to Diane! While today was also Diane's first parkrun as a participant she is no stranger to our event having volunteered over 50 times. Well done and thank you for being with us!!
Word reached us through the week that we could expect a special visit from a boomerang called Bi11 today. Bi11 has traveled the world from Australia, moving from one parkrun to another, making new friends and enjoying new experiences along the way. Unfortunately, Bi11 didn't make it to us today. Will Bi11 be with us next week? You'll have to join us on the Eastern Trail in Biddeford next weekend at 9am to find out! Have a great week and we'll see you then!

Trail conditions are looking good for tomorrow's 150th event! The trail has been plowed after recent snow fall, leaving behind a light covering of snow and ice. Today's warm temperatures saw some soft muddy sections of the trail emerging from the snow. We expect to see a refreeze overnight which should leave us with crunchy conditions under foot in the morning. Spikes may be a good idea, particularly for those that are walking the course.
