About Us:
The University Eye Center is a clinic within the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. The Eye Center is a state of the art clinic designed to bring together optometry students and some of the finest optometrists in the nation in a hands-on educational environment. We are open to the public and offer general Primary Care exams, Contact Lens exams, and many other types of specialized care. Our specialty clinics include Pediatrics, Medical/Surgical, Vision Therapy, Glaucoma evaluation, Cataract evaluation, Low Vision rehabilitation, and our Wellness Clinic. The Wellness Clinic brings together Pharmacological, Optometric, and Nursing professionals and students to provide holistic care and information to patients dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and other diseases. We accept most insurance plans including, but not limited to: Blue Cross, Priority Health, VSP, Eyemed, and Medicaid. Our Optical Department offers over 1000 frames to choose from including brands such as Vera Bradley, Coach, Bebe, Vera Wang, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Armani, Nike, Liz Claiborne, and Maui Jim among many others. We offer in-house fabrication and digital surfacing as well as prescription sunglasses. Directions:
We are located just to the south of McDonald’s on State St. in Big Rapids, and the clinic entrance is on the north side of the building. Patient Parking is located on the north side of the building between McDonald’s and our building. Red “Patient Parking” signs denote spaces reserved for patients. You WILL NOT be ticketed for parking in these spaces. From the North
Follow US-131 S towards Grand Rapids and take the M-20 exit, EXIT 139 towards Big Rapids. Turn RIGHT at the intersection of Perry Ave and Northland Dr./S. State St. University Eye Center will be on the RIGHT side of the road, after McDonalds. From the South
Follow US-131 N towards Big Rapids/Cadillac and take the M-20 exit, EXIT 139 towards Big Rapids. Turn RIGHT at the intersection of Perry Ave and Northland Dr./ S. From the East
Follow M-20 WEST into Big Rapids. Continue through downtown Big Rapids and turn LEFT onto Northland Dr./S. From the West

The Michigan College of Optometry had the pleasure of going to Zeiss headquarters to get some hands on experience, to learn and to help with some of their development as it comes to practice management and patient care. The experience was no less than amazing. There was a lot of learning on both sides and a great relationship was started. There was even a little fun had.
