**What is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)?**

If you are a highly sensitive person (HSP), you have an increased awareness of the stimuli around you, which can have both positive and negative effects. HSPs are often disturbed by violence and can easily become overwhelmed, leading them to avoid certain situations. However, highly sensitive people are also frequently very creative and possess a deep sense of empathy. Highly sensitive people are emotionally and mentally built more deeply than most people. This sensitivity extends beyond emotions, encompassing reactions to textures and sounds. For example, you may not enjoy large crowds or bright lights. While everyone has sensitivities, HSPs experience them at a more intense level.
