Some facts about Tina Turner:

· Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, in 1939. Her childhood inspired her hit “Nutbush City Limits.”

· Ike Turner gave her the name “Tina Turner” and even trademarked it, so he could replace her with another singer if she ever left him.

·She was famous for her explosive energy on stage, often performing in high heels while dancing relentlessly. Mick Jagger credited her with teaching him how to perform live.

· She endured years of abuse from Ike Turner before leaving him in 1976 with just 36 cents and a gas station credit card.

· At age 44, she made one of the greatest comebacks in music history with the album Private Dancer, featuring hits like “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” which won the Grammy for Record of the Year.

· She sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.

· In 1988, she set a world record performing for 180,000 people in Rio de Janeiro — still one of the largest ticketed concerts ever by a solo artist.

·She won 12 Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice (with Ike in 1991, solo in 2021).
