Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary." -Fred Rogers
September 10th is National Su***de Prevention Awareness day. A topic that is near and dear to so many hearts as well as my own.
✧There were nearly TWO AND A HALF TIMES as many su***des (47,511) in the United States as there were homicides (19,141) in 2019.
✧According to the CDC in 2019, Su***de was the tenth overall leading cause of death in the United States, claiming the lives of over 47,500 people.
✧It was the second leading cause of death among individuals age 10-34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals age 35-44.
The goal this month and every month? Let's educate eachother and raise awareness on su***de prevention and learn the warning signs.
Let's keep talking about this and reduce the stigma associated with people seeking mental health treatment and speaking up to ask for help.
You are worth it.
And your emotions are valid.
