In vet med we have a running joke that the doctors slightly under-sedate (aka ✨glitter✨), and somehow the techs still end up in a full-on wrestling match just trying to get x-rays on a pet who chose chaos that day 😂🐶🐱💪

Today’s video is just a little behind-the-scenes fun from the clinic—because if we don’t laugh, we cry… and we’d rather laugh 🤪

It definitely had us cracking up, so we hope it gives you a good laugh too!

Happy Wednesday! 🐾💕

Camila (tan) and Camilo (black and brown) are 7-week-old Chihuahuas who visited us for their very first wellness exam and vaccines! 🐾

These two kept us smiling the whole time—between chewing on fingers (and each other 😄), they showed off just how playful and sweet they are. The real highlight? Kong canned cheese during their vaccines…safe to say it was a big hit!

And can we talk about how adorable they are all snuggled up together, sleeping without a care in the world? 💕

📞🐾 “Hi! I’ve never been there before, but my pet is sick… can I talk to a vet real quick and maybe pick up some meds?”

We get this question a lot at Highland Animal Hospital, and we totally understand wanting to help your pet as quickly as possible! 💛
But here’s the thing—we first need what’s called a VCPR!

🎓✨ This week’s topic: VCPR (Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship)

So, what does that mean?

A VCPR is what allows us to legally and safely treat your pet. It means we’ve established a relationship with you and your animal so we can provide the best care possible 🐶🐱

✔️ A VCPR is established when:
• We’ve physically examined your pet (or visited the premises for large animals)
• We’re familiar with your pet’s health and history
• You agree to follow our treatment recommendations
• We’re available for follow-up care if needed

💡 Why it matters:
• It’s required by law before prescribing medications
• Helps us make accurate diagnoses and treatment plans
• Keeps your pet safe and well cared for
• Promotes responsible medication use

We know it can feel frustrating in urgent moments, but this process is all about protecting your pets and giving them the very best care 🐾💕

If your pet isn’t feeling well, give us a call—we’re here to help get you scheduled and taken care of! 😊

🐾✨ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: LOREE ✨🐾

For the months of March & April, we’re excited to introduce the amazing team members who help care for your pets every single day! 💙🐶🐱

Next up… Loree, one of our dedicated kennel assistants!

Loree was born in Midland, Texas, but calls Big Spring home. She graduated in 2017 through homeschooling and went on to attend Howard College on a rodeo scholarship, earning her Associate’s degree in Animal Science in 2021. She joined our team in March 2025 and has been a great addition ever since. 🐾

Loree is known for her attention to detail and her strong background in animal care. She especially enjoys working around surgery and has developed a growing passion for that side of veterinary medicine.

If there’s a Heeler or Australian Shepherd in the clinic, Loree is all in! 🐶 She has a special love for “cow dogs” of all kinds and sizes.

Outside of work, Loree stays busy with her animals and rodeo lifestyle. She has two dogs—Diesel, her longtime sidekick, and Peaches, her energetic partner-in-training—as well as her horses Discoe and Chicken Nugget, and even a young pygmy goat named Gravy. 🐴🐐

When she’s not at the clinic, Loree enjoys barrel racing, rodeoing, spending time with her fiancé, Matthew, and tending to her plants. She also brings valuable large animal experience to the team and is always ready to lend her skills when needed.

Looking ahead, Loree plans to continue her education in veterinary medicine with a focus on large animals, while also preparing for her upcoming Spring 2027 wedding. 💍

We’re so grateful for the dedication, experience, and personality Loree brings to our team every day! ✨

🐾 Help us show Loree some love! 💙👏

Andy (8-year-old neutered Siamese) and Amos (8-year-old neutered black kitty) are two of our favorite frequent boarders—and they make every stay a little brighter! While they seem to enjoy their time with us, we’re pretty sure we enjoy them even more. Just look at these adorable little stinkers—how could you not love them? 🐾💛

🐾✨ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: CADENCE ✨🐾

For the months of March & April, we’re excited to introduce the amazing team members who help care for your pets every single day! 💙🐶🐱

Next up… Cadence, one of our hardworking kennel assistants!

Cadence is a Big Spring native and graduated from Forsan High School in 2023. She joined our team in February 2025 and has quickly made a name for herself with her strong work ethic and willingness to take on any challenge that comes her way. 💪🐾

One thing that sets Cadence apart is her confidence working with more challenging or fractious pets. She embraces those moments and takes pride in helping pets feel safe and cared for, even when they’re a little unsure.

If there’s a Rottweiler in the building… chances are Cadence has already called dibs! 🐶🖤 She loves them at any age and is always excited for the opportunity to work with one.

At home, Cadence has a 1-year-old domestic longhair cat named Lahey, who keeps her on her toes. 🐱

When she’s not at work, she enjoys photography and capturing moments from behind the lens. And if you see her around the clinic, there’s a good chance she’s got a Slim Jim nearby—her go-to snack and unofficial trademark! 😄

We’re so grateful to have Cadence on our team and love the dedication and positivity she brings every day. ✨

🐾 Help us show Cadence some love! 💙👏

Jethro and Ellie are 3-year-old Mini Poodle siblings who came in together for their dental cleanings. Jethro (on the right) proudly rocks his signature mohawk, while Ellie (on the left) steals hearts with her adorable looks. These two share such a special bond—they love being close to each other and even snuggled up together after their procedures. Now they’re going home with fresh, clean breath and beautifully pearly white smiles!

Bella stopped by to see us today for her annual vaccines and heartworm test! 🐾💉

This sweet 2-year-old spayed Pit Bull was a little nervous at first, but with a few treats (okay… maybe a few extra 😉), she quickly warmed up and showed us just how loving she really is.

And can we talk about that face?! 😍 She seriously looks like a little baby seal! 🦭💕

We loved getting to see you today, Bella—you did such a great job! 🐶✨
