🌈 Sam Burkholder and Rooted Vessel, LLC are proudly queer + trans affirming, neurodivergent accommodating, and continuously working to be anti-racist. I attended Mossmain College of Massage from September 2019 to June 2020, and I passed the Massage & Bodyworkers Licensing Exam (MBLEX) the same month I graduated. After working at The Spa at Sage Lodge (Pray, MT) and Good Medicine Acupuncture & Massage (Bozeman, MT), I wanted to focus on offering the type of massage that calls me most -ethical, accessible, customized treatment - without sacrificing my wellbeing.

🗓️Rooted Vessel and Sam have availability the next few Sundays + Mondays: they do fill up, so schedule sooner rather than later to secure your massage appointment 🌿

if a full massage feels like a little too much right now (summer gets b u s y ), I offer three cupping-exclusive treatment options: 💆facial cupping (no marks or downtime, amazing lymphatic drainage support), 🩻back cupping, and 🤲abdominal cupping (come well hydrated!). The first two are currently 30minute/$50 appointments, and the last is a 15minute/$25 session.
((If you'd like cupping but don't want marks: we can avoid stationary cupping to prevent marks! :))

🌹Hi it's Rooted Vessel with a non-massage message:

🥀I have rosehip seed oil, I bought a large amount because I thought I'd go through it faster than I currently am. So! This is a bring-your-own-container situation (or I have a handful of 2oz dropper bottles, limited amount, to use instead); I'm charging $2/oz (two dollars, per ounce) because I got the gallon at essentially a wholesale price and I'd like to share the good deal!

💸Typically, two ounces (2oz) goes for $10-$15 dollars, so if you'd like a deal (that supports a Big Timber local business, Rooted Vessel massage!). As always, DO YOUR RESEARCH about if this oil is good for you and your skin. This oil is what I use for any facial cupping, and I personally use it myself as well.
NO scent beyond what is inherent to the oil itself (it does not smell like roses, not much of anything really).

Via the internet (WebMD): Rosehips are full of vitamin C, which makes rosehip oil a great tool for protecting your skin. The vitamins A and C in rosehip oil acts as antioxidants, a substance that protects your cells against damage and disease. The contained fatty acids can be anti-inflammatory, and rosehip seed oil is typically safe for rosacea concerns!! 🌹

⚡️Founded in 2021, I went full time with running Rooted Vessel in 2023, welcoming the opportunity to serve more clients locally. I get to be a part of creating the world I want to live in, and that includes facilitating community care, accessibility, justice, pleasure, and curiosity through therapeutic massage. Using different modalities to regulate your nervous system, I work to help reduce and manage pain, increase range of motion, offer somatic support, and give you a more connected understanding of your body.
☀️Favored modalities are cupping and Gua sha, for their positive effects of lowered inflammation + a healthier functioning immune system (won’t trigger autoimmune issues!), and I enjoy incorporating rest of my educational background as well.
📚Originally trained in Swedish massage, my continuing education includes Myofascial Release, three cupping classes with the ITCA, Gua sha online course with Arya Nielsen, and I’m currently pursuing Level I certification with NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT).

🚨 Hello friends, this is a big-for-me, impacting-you-too announcement!
Rooted Vessel and Sam’s schedule is changing significantly and quickly, shifting from a four-day week to only Sundays & Mondays come Sunday April 13th. (There are a lot of details Sam is sorting).
This thrilling change is due to a serendipitous opportunity to join Drift Studio in Livingston!!!!
🌊Headed by Adrianna Moss, Drift Studio is a collective of passionate practitioners focused on creating a welcoming, cozy environment for incredible treatment experiences. I will be renting a room within the studio, which means I get to be part of a group of humans who are as dedicated to their work and their clients as I am. ☺️

This decision is precipitated by a few factors, two of them being that I’ve been unable to find suitable space to rent here in Big Timber, and I’ve had a slower month (reflective of the normal fluctuations of building a sustainable massage business). But I’ve got bills! And sometimes it’s lonely working by yourself out of your living room! Working in the same town within which I live is important to me in the long run, and saying Yes to this exciting option will let me support my family’s lives more generously as I work towards that goal. 🙌

So don't let anyone tell you otherwise: Sam is still around, still working, and still taking current and new clients. We're looking forward to continuing to work with you and see what the future has in store for us all. ✨

🚶this is a call for volunteers for more NeuroKinetic Therapy practice bodies!! this is FREE.
NKT is an assessment-based modality, NOT a massage technique. You get free assessment with more informed treatment at future massages, and I get more comfortable and confident performing muscle tests so I can certify in a month as a Level I NKT provider, I cannot thank you enough for your kindness in volunteering as tribute. 🙏
I have open time
Monday March 31st 1pm-4pm,
Tuesday April 1st 11am-3pm,
Wednesday April 2nd from 12pm-5pm, and
