🏠 Is your home lead-safe?

Many older homes still contain lead-based paint. As it ages, that paint can chip or turn into dust, tiny particles that are easy for young children to inhale or ingest during everyday play.

If your home was built before 1978, your child may be at risk of exposure without you even realizing it. The best way to know is through a simple lead test. Keeping children safe starts with awareness. Learn how to get your child tested and what steps you can take to reduce lead hazards in your home.

Visit RiverStoneHealth.org/LEAD for more information and resources to protect your family. Together, we can create a lead-safe community for every child.

February is , a time to remember and celebrate the accomplishments, contributions, and leadership of Black Americans. Black history is American history, and it’s woven into the fabric of our communities, our health, and our shared future. That legacy includes leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose work for economic justice and food security reminds us that access to basic needs, including nutritious food, is necessary for families to thrive.

At WIC, we celebrate the caregivers, parents, and community leaders who nurture the next generation. 🫂

Most Yellowstone County teens are choosing to stay v**e free! 💙

60% of local high school students are not currently va**ng, showing that staying v**e free is the norm, not the exception. When we lift up these positive behaviors, we help empower youth who already choose wellness and remind others that they’re not alone in making healthy decisions.

Together, we can continue building a strong, supportive community where our teens thrive.

A community health needs assessment, or CHNA, is a wellness exam for a community. Instead of taking blood pressure or drawing blood, a community health needs assessment relies on input from residents, community leaders and other data sources to provide an overall snapshot of our health as a population.

Amanda Zimmerman-Murter, the Community Health Improvement Manager on behalf of Healthy By Design, highlights the work of the Alliance and what the next steps are now that the results for the CHNA are complete.

We are here to help clarify what kratom enforcement means in Yellowstone County:

1️⃣ Existing laws: The Montana Food Code has been in place statewide since 2015. RiverStone Health’s role is to ensure local retail food establishments comply with these existing regulations.

2️⃣ Why now: After consulting with legal and health experts and reviewing evidence from the Montana Department of Justice, RiverStone Health will begin enforcing these rules in 2026.

3️⃣ Consistency: Our goal is fair and consistent enforcement across all retail food establishments. Kratom is not an approved food or food additive under the Montana Food Code.

This is about education, consistency and public health. Learn more at RiverStoneHealth.org/Kratom
