Keeping patients and families close to home for lifesaving, complex care is always our goal and Billings Clinic is honored to announce our next step in that continuous journey. This month, Billings Clinic earned Montana's first-ever designation as a Comprehensive Trauma Center. This designation from the State of Montana aligns with the American College of Surgeon's Level I Trauma Center verification and reflects our dedication to providing the the top level of trauma care available to patients, their families and communities within a 500-mile radius that includes all of Montana and Wyoming. This pairs with Billings Clinic's status as the first and only health care organization in that region to earn ACS Level I verification. It means rural communities and critical access hospitals across Montana have another resource for taking care of people when an emergency happens, along with partners at Billings Clinic who can help. It means that the highest level of trauma care is available in our own backyards whenever you need it.
“As the busiest Emergency Department and Trauma Center in the state, Billings Clinic continues to provide the highest level of care for the most severely injured trauma patients,” said Michael Englehart, MD, FACS, general and trauma surgeon and Billings Clinic Trauma Medical Director. “This designation reinforces the commitment of our entire organization to provide the complete spectrum of life saving care at a moment’s notice 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
We are grateful to everyone at Billings Clinic for their hard work to provide the care, resources and innovation to achieve and to the State of Montana for their partnership in creating this important new designation for our state. And, most importantly, we are humbled by the trust so many people and their families place in us every day to provide them with the care they need, when they need it.
