At St. Vincent Regional Hospital, we know health is shaped by far more than what happens inside a hospital.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of Intermountain Health’s place-based investing efforts—an approach that supports community-led solutions to some of the biggest factors influencing health and well-being, including housing, recovery support and economic opportunity.

In Billings, that work includes a $450,000 investment in Community Leadership & Development, with a portion helping expand Hannah House, a sober living home for women in recovery. The expansion increased capacity from 15 to 20 housing units, creating more space for women working toward long-term stability, sobriety and healing.

Intermountain Health also provided a $5 million loan to MoFi Montana, a community development financial institution that helps provide access to capital for people who may not qualify for traditional loans. That funding has helped support local small businesses in Billings—including childcare centers, wellness businesses and other community-serving entrepreneurs.

These investments reflect a broader commitment to whole-person care and to addressing the social conditions that help people and communities thrive.

At St. Vincent, we’re proud to support work that helps create healthier futures—both inside and outside our walls.

Sometimes taking care of your health can’t wait, even in the hardest seasons of life. 💙

Even after the unexpected loss of her husband of 50 years, Trudy Carey kept her routine colon cancer screening. That decision helped her find cancer early, and allowed St. Vincent surgeon Dr. Barry McKenzie to remove the cancer through a robotic-assisted procedure, allowing Trudy to recover more quickly.

Colon cancer often has no warning signs. Screening saves lives. If you’re 45 or older, or at higher risk, talk with your doctor about when and how to get screened.

Taking care of yourself matters. And you don’t have to wait to feel sick to take action.

Little voices. Big appreciation. 💙

As part of our Doctors’ Day celebration, we asked local elementary school kids what they think doctors do—and their answers were thoughtful, funny and full of heart. From helping people feel better to saving lives, it’s clear just how important doctors are through a child’s eyes.

We’re grateful to Dr. Heather Hansen, Dr. Hugh Bigg, Dr. Daniel Hillman, and Dr. Mark Schaefer for bringing these handwritten responses to life on camera—and for the care they provide to families across eastern Montana every day. A special thank-you to the kids who also shared their thoughts on camera and reminded us why this work matters so much.

Today (and every day), we celebrate our doctors and the impact they make in our communities—seen, felt and even imagined by our youngest neighbors. 🩺✨

During Women’s History Month, we’re proud to honor the women whose compassion and courage helped shape health care in our communities.

More than 125 years ago, the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, founded by Mother Xavier Ross, brought their mission of care to Billings—helping establish what is now St. Vincent Regional Hospital.

In those early days, the Sisters did it all. They cared for patients, raised funds, and worked tirelessly to keep the hospital running—often with limited resources but an unwavering commitment to serve every person with dignity and compassion.

That mission is still alive today.

You can still find Sister Eileen Hurley at St. Vincent, welcoming patients at Guest Services or delivering flowers to brighten someone’s day. As one of the last remaining Sisters connected to the hospital’s founding legacy, she continues to serve as both a volunteer and leader—carrying forward the values that began more than a century ago.

As Sister Eileen shared, the Sisters helped “plant the seed”—a legacy of care that continues to grow through every caregiver who walks through our doors.

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the generations of women whose service, leadership, and compassion continue to shape the way we care for our community. 💙
