Last week, St. Vincent Regional Hospital participated in a community-wide emergency preparedness exercise that simulated a mass casualty vehicular incident, allowing first responders and healthcare teams to practice critical coordination, communication, and patient transport in a controlled environment.

This mock event was conducted alongside partners including American Medical Response Billings, Lockwood Rural Fire District #8, Billings Clinic, United Way of Yellowstone County (UWYC), Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department, Rocky Vista University - Montana, and the Billings Fire Department.

These annual exercises strengthen our readiness to care for our community in the event of a real emergency — because preparation today helps protect lives tomorrow. 💙

Our mission is rooted in serving those who are poor and vulnerable. Recently, our caregivers brought that mission to life by assembling care kits for children in Billings who are experiencing a crisis. 💙

Each kit included a stuffed animal and a handwritten note with words of encouragement like “You are strong. You are brave. You are loved.”

The kits were then delivered to the Billings Police Department, where officers will share them with children they meet during difficult situations—offering comfort, reassurance, and a reminder that our community cares.

A heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers who helped make this project possible and continue to bring compassion beyond our hospital walls. 💫

During breast cancer awareness month, we honor strength, early detection, and survivorship. During her routine annual mammogram, Renee Lesueur’s care team noticed an area they wanted to monitor.

In her follow-up imaging, Dr. Kalie Adler at the St. Vincent Breast Center noticed some changes and recommended a biopsy. The additional testing confirmed a breast cancer diagnosis.

Although the news was difficult, Renee was grateful that the cancer was detected early, meaning she would not require as invasive or extensive treatment. After a surgery to remove the affected breast tissue, it was determined that she would need radiation treatments, but not chemotherapy.

Lesueur’s story underscores the importance of regular screening and early detection of breast cancer. When caught early, treatment can be more effective, less aggressive, and survival rates are significantly higher.
