⭐ Meet the team: Kathleen ⭐

Kathleen has been part of our staff for seven years as a Registered Nurse! She manages all aspects of our vaccine inventory, reviews lab and radiology results, and writes our parent/patient letters.😀

When asked what her favorite part of her job is she enthusiastically says, “The people! The doctors are very caring and take the time to give each of their patients the best care. And they make sure the staff feels appreciated.”

Kathleen is a mother to one son and enjoys outdoor activities like paddleboarding and biking. When she’s not outside you can find her cooking and sewing! Fun fact: She once had a sewing business and was even a personal chef for a while! 👩‍🍳

Outdoor play is one of the best (and simplest!) ways to support a child’s overall development 🌳☀️ Even 30–60 minutes outside each day can make a big difference. Whether it’s backyard play, a trip to the park, or a family walk, fresh air is powerful medicine for growing kids. 💙

Did you know? It can take 10 to 12 exposures for a child to accept new foods!

Picky eating is one of the most common things brought up by parents at well child checks, so if your child is struggling to try new foods (like greens such as broccoli or spinach!) you’re not alone!

Green foods are an important part of a healthy diet because they are often rich in virtual nutrients like iron, calcium, magnesium, and antioxidants.

Some more fun facts about these green foods:
🔸 Did you know iron is more absorbable in frozen or cooked spinach?
🔸 Green peas have both types of fiber in them for a healthy gut.
🔸 Pretending broccoli are little trees and playing with them counts as exposure.

Try adding one of these green foods to your family’s plate in honor of St.Patrick’s Day! 🥦

Shots don’t have to be scary 💉💙

At Medical Center Pediatrics, we use tools like the Shot Blocker and Buzzy Bee to help make vaccines more comfortable for your child.

These simple pain-control devices work by distracting the nervous system. They gently “confuse” or interrupt pain signals, helping trick the body into feeling less of the poke. It’s safe, effective, and designed to improve your child’s overall experience. We start using them with our littlest patients to prevent the fear of shots from developing!

Less fear. Less discomfort. More brave kiddos. 💪

March is also Brain Injury Awareness Month 🧠While there are many types of brain injuries, we want to take a moment to focus on how to recognize concussions and hopefully reduce their occurrence.

Here’s what to watch for if you suspect a concussion ➡️

Please note: Concussion signs and symptoms may not show up right away. Concussion signs can look different depending on the age of your child. If you believe your child has sustained a concussion, please contact your pediatrician's office.
