Parents, do you know what to watch for when it comes to dehydration?

Babies and young children are at higher risk for dehydration, often due to fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

Signs of dehydration in children can look like:
🔹 Urinating less frequently (for children 0 to 4 months this is less than 6 wet diapers in a day, for children older than 4 months this is less than 3 wet diapers or urinations in a day) or have dark urine
🔹 Producing fewer tears when crying
🔹 Developing a dry or sticky mouth
🔹 A sunken soft spot (in infants)
🔹 Playing less than usual

If you notice that your child has any of the above, please call their healthcare provider.

Stay tuned for a future post on rehydration and fluid goals!

Did you know Medical Center Pediatrics offers ear piercing? 👂✨

Available at our Bingham Farms office in a safe, clinical setting by a trained pediatric nurse.

We offer surgical grade stainless steel or titanium studs.

What is the best age for ear piercing? 🤔 We follow guidelines to wait until after the two month vaccines, but beyond that it is a personal choice. Before age one may lead to better cooperation and easier healing. Older children are better able to participate in the process and earring care.

Ear piercing is $100 and considered an elective procedure.

📲 Please call to schedule an appointment. (248) 642-5437
